Default '08 OEM Nav - Map DVD Stuck!

Ok, I made a stupid mistake. I thought I'd be clever and make a custom navigation DVD that included the version 6300 update file so I wouldn't have to load the update disc every time I disconnected the battery. Seemed like an innocent task at the time. I figured if it didn't work then oh well, a DL DVD is now a coaster.

Well, I put the DVD in the map slot and now the system doesn't recognize a disc is there at all. Therefore it won't eject said disc. Just says something like "No Map DVD loaded" or something similar.

HELP! Any ideas? Is there a special key combination to force a disc eject? I know if you hold down the "tilt" button it will force eject the CD/DVD top slot, but I haven't yet found a method for forcing the map DVD to eject.

I've tried disconnecting the battery again but nothing seems to be working. Searches on Google have also turned up nothing.

Steve

Its in your manual dude!

Go out there and honk your horn 5 times while holding the tilt button down. It will eject!

yeah, I'm glad everyone is getting a good laugh at my frustration

Yes, I've gone through both the car and nav system manuals. The nav system mentions a problem with a disc not ejecting but says nothing about a solution.

Not a problem at all. I do have a decent sense of humor. I did try the horn thing BUT I removed the horn relay so no noise

I'm going to try calling Kenwood tomorrow. I know the hardware is perfectly fine. I will be very surprised if they don't have an easy way to force an eject for either drive.

Otherwise I guess it's off to my dealer and pray they don't scratch the crap out of the dash screwing around with it.

How would they scratch the dash if the navigation is under the seat?

Where did you put the CD? In the dash or under the seat?

Quote:
NOTE
***8226; The navigation system main unit is located under the driver's seat.
***8226; Before you load a DVD-ROM disc for the first time, press the reset
button for more than one second. Use the tip of a pen or similar
item for this purpose.
***8226; If a malfunction occurs during operation, try pressing the reset
button. The system may recover from the problem.
Hope that helps

Ummm, this is an '08. The whole navigation system is in the dash and the brackets holding it in are sheet metal. They would tear up the dash if not careful.

Bump.
Someone on here PM'd me the answer. He's/She's my freaking hero!

With the face open touch the upper right corner of the touch screen for about 5 seconds. Worked great

So for the CD/DVD slot you hold the tilt button. For the Map DVD slot you do the above.

So glad I don't have to visit the dealer

Was there ever a way to get the head unit working again?
I disconnected my battery and got this same problem. After reading this thread, I figured out how to get the DVD out. Now how do I get past this message? It seems my map drive is broken and is not reading disks at all. I just want to play music through the RCA and adjust the equalizers

I would create a new thread but yknow forum rules say I need to have 3 legit posts
