Toyota FR
>> Cooperating with Subaru
>> Internally known as "UPS"
>> Will use the EJ20 Boxer 4 as the engine
>> They plan on having a normal-spec as well as high-output versions of the car
>> High-output version will aim to get more then 100hp/liter; target of 220hp
>> Toyota will design the rear-differential; the Subaru rear-diff won't have the capacity to handle the higher-output engine power due to it being designed primarily for 4WD applications
>> Transmission will be a 6MT from Aisin Seiki (as found in the Mazda RX-8/MX-5)

Nissan 370Z
>> Internal code name C53D
>> dramatically different front head lights (with use of LEDs)
>> expect around 333ps
>> will use the VQ37VHR
>> designed to meet stricter emission standards
>> Steering wheel will have the "Z" emblem on it
>> expect official announcement around November 08

Toyota 4500GTh
>>Toyota planning on putting into production the FT-HS concept
>> 3.5L hybrid found in the GS450h; estimated 4.5s 0-60 times
>>Will be designed by French Studio T3 (same folks that did the iQ)
>>target weight will be 1370-1550kg; they will need to dramatically reduce the weight of the hybrid components to meet the target
>> Toyota may be looking at Li-on batteries for the production version of the car

wait so the higher ouput model will be 220hp?!!!
I thought it would be an AWD STI engine car with 300hp.
Maybe my reading comprehension is failing.
That sketch looks really good.

On the other hand I know nissan will really really screw the 370Z with those horrible fish hook headlights they want to put on the car.

See the new maximas, they have the same kind of hooked headlights, looks pretty werid.

I was hoping for a better motor, like the 3SGTE or the Beams Motor.

I was also hoping for a revamped 6th generation 3S series motor.... Beams or 3SGTE... haha or a combination of the two would be pretty damn amazing (more like 135hp/litre back in early 2000's).

RWD RSX type r with turbo motor, mid 20's price tag, and Toyota's resale/reliability/reputation/aftermarket potential= winnar!

It might sell better than LE Camry's! HA!

two important questions that need to be answered:

-How much is this going to cost?
For 220hp sounds like $22k-$24k territory.

-Will this come to the US?
They said they wanted to compete against the type R which means European market only.

I really hope this makes it over here.

Definately excited about the GT4500h. Fuel economy meet power. Hope it comes in a MT, but that would eliminate the whole ICE cutoff Toyota has going. But who knows.

I really hope so too, but it wouldnt be the first time that Toyota's short-changed the US market with either inferior or no versions of their cool products.

-1 for use of the EJ20. As much as I like the EJ motor, it is sort of the defining characteristics of Subarus. I don't want to open the hood of my Toyota to find a Subaru designed motor.

Really? I would love to open the hood of my subaru and find a 2jz

I think this will be great, I bet this will open up all kinds of options to making the WRX RWD for cheap

SoDealer, what do you think of the relationship between Subaru and Toyota. Specifically, what do you think of this car having a Subaru engine and all? do you find this very beneficial for Subaru?

With the Hyundai Genesis in real form, I'm not so excited about a new cheap Toyota RWD car anymore.

Unless they bring it out at under 3000lbs, then it'll catch my attention.

The toyota should be much lighter than the Hyundai. I think that it's supposed to be around 2800lbs or less.
