I have a 98 LGT, the front plate holder was removed, and I got a nfp ticket. I just want to put it back on.
There are 3 holes below my bumper which it attaches to, but there is no way to get above those holes with my hands, so how can I secure it on there?

On my 98L, there are 2 square shaped plastic things that are pressed into the bumber. I couple inches below the grille. They have threads in them, but be carefull, its only plastic and you can strip them out really easy.

Mine has a bracket that screws into those square plastic jobbers, then the plate onto the bracket.

Well thats cool knowing how yours are set up, but unfortunately that doesn't help much.
But don't worry, I've figured it out, I just got slightly larger screws than the holes, so its being held just by the bolts in the plastic. |

So if 2 guys who have the same model year as you reply to your thread and tell you how their cars are set up that doesn't help you? Logically, their cars should be exactly the same as yours. If that's not the case, as you have some completely unique car, then why come on here and ask questions? What answer were you expecting to get?

Your missing parts is why. You had empty holes. You need the plastic bits they were talking about. It's a long (6-8") black plastic piece that the plate can mount flush to. To attach this to the car are two plastic pieces that clip into your bumper holes (they are kind of like drywall anchors, but instead just have plastic wings to hold onto the bumper). Then you thread screws into these plastic pieces and voila.

Ding ding ding. My first thought would have been to think, hmmm, if they have the same car as me and mine isn't like theirs, I'm probably missing some parts or something... Good luck JS |

No, this is the setup you have. There are three plastic inserts. They are threaded, but are split (I think 6 ways). You hold up the metal plate bracket, then press the insert into the hole thru the metal license plate bracket, into the bumper. When you screw the plastic screw into the insert, it spreads the insert out and holds the metal plate holder to the bumper. If you go to a junkyard you might find a donor, but you probably can go to the dealer and pick them up. If Ballitch only has two, I suspect he has a third hole that is just missing the extra insert and plastic screw. |
