Default Rough cold starts and idle problems

My car has been having a problem lately with starting roughly and having a strange idle until it warms up. When i first start it up in the mornings or if it has set for awhile, it doesnt start very smoothly and makes a pinging, clicking noise until it warms up. Once it has been driving a little it calms down.

Today it hesitated and barely wanted to turn over, once it started it shimmed pretty badly for a few seconds before smoothing out. I turned it off and restarted it 3 times, the first 2 times it started right up but continued to shake, on the 3rd time it didnt shake at all.

The car currently has about 57,000 miles on it and the only mods are a Perrin foam filter, GPmoto intake elbow and a Accessport flashed to stage 1 for 93 oct. I just changed the oil about 1100 miles ago. Trying to figure out why it starts so rough and makes noises for awhile after starting. I will check the coolant level and tranny fluid level. I bought it back in June used from a local dealership and have put about 4500 miles on it since. They said they changed all fluids and checked everything before selling it. So im thinking with only putting that many miles it shouldnt be low or out of any of the fluids.

This the first time it has shook like that on me, and it has only had problems starting one other time.

Any help would be appreciated, i hope i gave enough information if not let me know.

Dave

Clean your MAF. Oil from the filter probably coated it.

Any codes?

No codes yet, i will try cleaning the MAF, i just need to unplug it from the intake hose going into the airbox and clean it off. Any certain type of cleaning agent or just wipe it off with dry clean rag?

Some people use q-tips, alcohol, and brake cleaner. I don't. Very fragile.

I would get spend 5 bucks and get some CRC MAF cleaner (or electronic parts cleaner) from discount or autozone etc.

Spray the IAT sensor (the visible two wires at the bottom)

The MAF itself is down one of the channels closer to the top plate.
Spray down at an angle (not directly down) and bounce the stream of a wall.
Just spray the living shyte out of it and you should be good to go.

Than let us know if its still acting up.

Also, the shaking while idling, kind of feels like its going side to side is classic dirty MAF.

38K mine had a rough Idle, I was running a K&N went back to a paper filter cleaned the MAF with the CRC and it was much improved. Put in some new Irridum plugs and the car runs like new.

Thanks guys got some of the CRC MAF cleaner sprayed down the MAF real good, let it dry, and used my K&N filter cleaning kit to clean my Perrin filter. Put i all back together and it started up really smoothly. Feels like it has a little more power too, runs quieter. Thanks for the help
