Figured I'd let you all know that there will be some new Volk Racing RE30 sizing coming out here in the near future.
18x9 +50mm!! ooh it's going to be pretty. All these 2008 STi have no reason to not get this size wheel. It's going to fit like a charm. this 18x9 +50mm is to the GR what the 18x8.5 +52mm is to the GD here's some more info on it if you're curious New Volk Racing RE30 sizing!! Must Read for 2008 STi. » t3h_Clap’s Wheel33tist Blog Thoughts? -Drew

Hot. If I wasn't stuck to stock class AX rules I'd be all over these, or maybe the 18x9.5s

Volk may be crossing over with the JDM Civic Type-R application. Note the special fitment on Weds' site for the TC105n for the Type-R:
http://www.weds.co.jp/products/wedssport/tc105n.html When I contacted Weds about this wheel, they confirmed that the 18x9 +50 DOES fit the '08 Sti . I've encouraged Mackin to stock this wheel (and the RE030 9.5 in +40 or +47), but at this time they insist on continuing to stock lame +35mm offsets, claiming this is what everyone wants ![]() My only concern is this: if I run 275/35/18's on +50 offsets, I gain ~10 mm on the inside tire wall. If I use stock struts, no problem, people have already done it on the wide tire thread. But what about coilovers? I saw one person with an '06 Sti report needing a +15mm spacer on +53's with 275's and KW V3's! This seems odd, and the '08 may have better front strut clearance than '05-07, but I just don't know yet. At this point I'm inclined to run something like the +47 or +40 Volks, or maybe the +45 TRM MT1's. At least with these offsets I can add a 5 mm space if needed and still be on ARP studs (right?). ps- also don't know if the '06 was running camber bolts or camber plates. Do KW Variant 3's come with plates? I guess that could make a big difference... Frank |

i needed a 15mm spacer to clear my +53mm stock bbs with 275s in the front.
the fitment issue was with the spring perch in the front. these 18x9 +50mm will be similar to the current 18x8.5 +52mm fitments you see on the GD's not very aggressive but great for a stock body, stock strut car. of course going to a wider and lower offset will be needed if you decide to upgrade to a coilover setup or run a wide ass tire. |
