As you may know I have a had a few issues with my JDM Legacy with regards to the CD/Radio. Six disc is fab but no RDS or Name is a real pain. The Sat Nav touch screen is good for down town Tokyo but not the valleys of Wales.
![]() Thankfully all is now well and I can confirm that I have now successfully upgraded the standard Legacy Radio/CD to a Kenwood DNX 7200. ![]() ![]() To do this I sourced a Subaru Upgrade Kit from www.japanparts.com , enter number 107-209-006 in the Parts Number box. There are three types, the Dual Zone, Single Zone and A/C. You need the A/C for early 03 + models. Later Models require the black facia kits ( I know I ordered one and it’s wrong unless you have an 06 + Leggy). The kit comes with all the brackets and a Dual Antenne Cable if you need it. Subaru UK and Kenwood deny all knowledge of the kits ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the picture of the later kit. If anyone is interested it’s for sale. PM me for details but to get them here costs £178 (x2 for $'s). To upgrade the Cubby Box to the UK HDD Subaru Sat Nav costs £2300 (x2 for $'s). Also available is a JDM 6 Disc CD/Radio or a nearly new UK Spec Single Disc CD/Radio. All in the install cost £820 (x2 for $'s) with the panel and the DNX 7200 with iPod adaptor. Ta Ian

This is the sweetest thing I've seen today... and I see a lot of sweet things.
They HAVE to make this for LHD right? Right? It's a "Subaru OEM" part.... you would think that it comes in a LHD version. I've done a lot of google searching today and didn't find any reference to the RHD version of this so I am thinking the LHD version is just as shy if it exists. Here's hoping. |

That is PERFECT. It is EXACTLY what subaru should've done to begin with.

Well, then you should buy one of these:
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...CD7200&tp=5684 The point is, there aren't always carryover parts for different markets, and the US market usually gets screwed for automotive goodies. So don't expect much. I'm being realistic, not cynical. |

Pics coming soon. I have the old JDM Radio/CD Unit and the A/C Panel.
The AC plug that connects to the Radio/CD plugs straight to the new Unit. |

Rear plug socket for the AC Control is the same as the rear of both the JDM and UKDM Audio units
![]() ![]() The Adaptor Panel for the AC Controls also has the same plug for the AC Cable that normally plugs into the rear of the radio. ![]() I have included the Numbers printed on the back if anyone is interested. I also took the facia plates off each unit and the connections seem the same. The CD/Radio/MD units are only held on by 4 BA mini screws. ![]() I tried to swap the JDM CD 6 Disc for the UK Single Disc but the connector ribbon is to narrow!!! ![]() I have now run the iPOD and USB into the Centre Arm rest instead of the glove box. It's all coming together now. Even changed the background on the Screen! Last edited by Blue Dragoon; 03-31-2008 at 03:03 PM. |

I think the end securing brackets need to be angle the other way for LHD. This will also help, but will mean the main face plate needs the change too!

LHD is available, but it's not cheap.
