Default Oil filter leakage issues

On my 06 wrx every oil filter I have put on the car has leaked. Not much, but enough to have some oil on the filter and around that general area. Im sure the rubber o-ring has been removed every time, and I always lube the new one before installing it. Any idea as to why every single one(probably about 8-10 now) have leaked?

You need to turn the filter 1/8 of a turn more to tighten it properly.?

I do, Ive done oil changes on 3 of my own vehicles, my parents cars, and numerous family relatives cars and have never had this problem before. ever. I clean the o-ring mating surface and all, and still leaks. Could the block not be machined correctly?

Are you using OEM filters?

ive tried purolator, pureone, fram, it doesn't seem to be brand specific. Hell, I remember the first oil change I did- it was leaking a little bit(first OEM oil filter)

I say either the oil filter is not tight all the way enough or it is over tighten.
why not save yourself the trouble and time and get a fumoto valve installed on your suby? I have one installed and makes oil changes easy

Does it leak just a little and drip to the bottom of the filter?

The only time I've had a leak is overtightening, undertightening or getting a little bit into the channel on the top of the filter when pre-filling. Was the OEM filter that you used a white one? I've never had a leak when following the exact instructions on a black OEM filter. And that's with three Subaru's.

I would get an opinion from another Subaru owner. I would take a look but you're too freakin far away. I'm in northern Middlesex county.

To the OP: Are you the original owner and has anyone else touched your filter?

If it leaks with any filter you use then it obviously isn't the filters... Double check the surface the O-ring mates to on the block for an O-ring left behind or scratching on the mating surface. Also, if you can try to check and see if the threads you screw the filter on to aren't damaged or bent. My guess would be that the threads are possibly bent either from road debris or possibly Uncle Scotty's toitle.

Maybe try taking a few good pics just to see if there are any give-aways?

Are you dabbing your finger in oil and running it around the new filters o-ring before installing it? If your putting it on dry its possible its sticking and creating gaps.

Im the original owner, I'm the only one who has done oil changes, and I do lube the filter o-ring before install. I only hand tighten it(never had a problem doing that before on any other car).
I doubt any of it is bent, it wouldn't thread on properly if that was the case.

And to the person who recommended the Fumoto valve, your about a year and a half too late with that suggestion

And to the person who's dad is a Seaville fireman, check your PM box. Ive been a member there for ....hmm going on 4 years now.
