If only it were MT. I would think that that car would be worth $10k.

I paid $9k for mine 2 years ago and that was with 69,000 miles and some really bad paint damage on the bumper and side sills.

Why was the timing belt replaced at 28k? Is this only low miles because of lots of stop and go traffic on the high way?

Was it me, or did there appear to be a very slight door ding/dent on the Right rear (passenger side) door ?

timing belt needs to be changed w/ age if not mileage, adn why would lots of stop and go traffic on the highway make this low mileage??that would just mean wherever they were trying to get would take a long ass time....obviously whoever drove it never drove it

- Hood scoop + minor exterior details (ground effects, fogs, rear spoiler) (Did the 1996 GT have a hood scoop?)
- 16" wheels (starting in 1997)

In 1998-99 they dropped the LSi and the GT got the 2.5L (vs. 2.2) exclusively,

The GT was always powered by the 2.5L, except for the one or two '94 GT Wagons that show up from time to time. In '98 the LSi changed to the GT Limited, which was simply a GT that was loaded.

Wow, wasn't even aware of the 94 GT.

Yes it wasn't clear what I was trying to say - all 96-99 GTs were 2.5, but so were the 96-97 LSis so that really wasn't an exclusive "difference" so to speak between GT and non-GT. But yes it helps to think of the LSi as the former GT Limited.

The main thing was the 2.5 DOHC powerplant from 1996 to 1999.

I have a 1998 LGT wagon with the hood scoop, cloth, frog lights, spoiler, and premium sound package (including the sub under the driver's seat). I assume this car came with the snowflakes, but it had CRAPPY aftermarket wheels when I got it (now rockin WRX front brakes, WRX wheels, and soon to be "H6" rear brakes, as well as WRX front seats).

The GT missed out on a rear LSD, which is about all that differentiates the BE/BH GT fron the BE/BH L (BE/BH GT's get a rear LSD).

Very subtle differences between the LSi and the GT when they were in conversion... GT wagon got a rear spoiler, some different ground effects, and snowflake rims.
The LSi had the CD changer, leather, and upgraded sound standard, and was the only Legacy offered with a stock security system pre-97.
Not everyone wanted every single option, and the high price didn't help.
