Default Austin: boy do I need a trustworthy mechanic

'sup team NASIOC/TXIC

If anyone in the Austin area could please, please tell me where the heck I can get my poor '00 RS serviced by decent folks, and for a believable price, I would appreciate it greatly. The car's bone-stock, and only has 70,000 miles on it. I want it to last me a good, long time, and given that more things aren't working on it right now than when I took it into my dad's "import specialist", I kind of would like someone to give it a real, Subaru-oriented once-over.

Alternately, if anyone knows where I can pick up some factory shop manuals for cheap...?

PS: Enthusiasts are welcome to tell me what I should do to my car if/when the head gaskets toast my block, and are also welcome to donate leftover parts.

Austin Subaru seems to be all around the best place; I kind of had a 'hustle' experience at Gillman, so I'm not keen on going back there. I've never been formally introduced to the service department at AS, so I guess I'll have to pay them a visit...

When I got it back from the place that did my clutch:

1) Fuel guage isn't reading properly
2) Cruise control doesn't work
3) Clutch makes what i can only describe as a 'rather unpleasant' noise when I engage/disengage soon after starting, sometimes when decelerating
4) Runs really, really rich. Smells-like-a-lawnmower kind of rich.
5) Goddamn belt squeal when humid, they told me it was fixed, and I believed them until today.

I'm taking it back to them tomorrow, and if they don't fix it like they say they will, I'm taking it to the JC guys.

I think, honestly, that something was not hooked back up; if they had to drop the transmission since the fuel tank is...well, kinda nearby, it's possible that they had to disconnect the sending unit, or something else key to look at the whole thing. I did ask them to, after all, give it a going-over.

I still am going to seek a second opinion.
