Default SPT axleback

How does the SPT muffler compare sound wise to the stock 1998 LGT muffler? I'm thinking about doing Borla knockoffs, high flow cat, straight pipe, SPT muffler.

From what I've heard it's deeper, but not louder.

I had a SPT on my 99 GT and all it did was make it a hair louder when you let off the gas. I would only purchase this if your looking for a different look or your stock muffler is old and rusty. Mine as we speak is sitting in my room waiting for emissions if i cant pass with my current system.

I have one. It's a nice unit, but does nothing for performance.

I used to have Borlas>RT HF cat>Stromung Resonated Mid>SPT axelback.

It sounded nice but not too loud. I think without a resonator it would be good, but I was concerned with the "wagon drone".

If you can get it for "cheap" I recommend it. The tip looks pretty nice and it definitely is a bit better sounding than the stock piece. It definitely isn't Stromung sound though...

I don't really want it too loud. From sound clips, I can say that I like the stromung catbacks though, do they have resonators or not?

you can order the midpipe with one, but it really isn't too loud. check with boxer4racing to make sure they r still doing stromung. think they r, but order may take a little longer. search on youtube for "stromung subaru," "daios," or "genewic."

If you go with Stromung just call them directly. They are in California, so the ship time is quicker. Their website is ancient, but the phone number is correct (at least it used to be).

You can order the catback with or without the resonator. It is a difference of like $25-40 if I recall correctly.
