I'm interested in the same question? I've been wondering if you can use the sti shocks and springs to fit a gc8? Do you need the sti top hats as well? I found one link thats says no (link), but I've read of people who say they have made it work or maybe they didn't use everything.

I run a JDM STi driveline from tranny to the Brembos.

I just my GC/GF/GM BC Racing coilovers on my spindles/knuckles. This is a JDM STi setup so it has the balljoint for steel control arms. The Spec C / USDM STi has the different ball joint for the aluminum ball joint.

don't use GD shocks on GC
yes they work, but why?? you are getting different shock travel, dampening and spring rates...

either way, you can mate GD suspension to GC using GC rear strut tops (there are some exceptions for the OEM WRX/STI shocks/springs, I don't remember exactly but they changed rear spring/top design and you can't use it no more after certain year)

Wouldn't you get different shock travel, dampening, and spring rates if you went with an after market set up? Does the sti setup not work well on the gc's? I figured sti shocks would be an upgrade, but maybe thats not the case.

of course you will, this is why you do research before you buy any suspension to understand what travel/bump/rates etc you need.... but do that for YOUR car, not another one

FYI I've been running GD rally suspension for a long time, and it isn't optimized for the car (less travel up front, way too long in the rear, overdampened due to GD weight etc.)

I am on full GD lower suspension bits (arms, sways) but I am going back to GC specific shocks/springs now

Hey I had full 05 sti suspension in my RSTi swap. (I swapped the whole car) the front worked well for me, however you would need to replace the top hats or in my case I just drilled new holes for the rear struts to line up in. I had some chamber issuses initially but that was easy to fix. I recently upgraded to a set of Cusco Zero-2r's and that came off a 05 Sti and they work fricking sick. good Luck w/ your swap.
