Default TurboXS Exhaust Users, please give me some input.

Ok, first off yes, I did do a search, which turned up only a few results. This is only for those who are also using the TurboXs muffler, since I know that the turboback with the stock muffler is very quiet (seems like alot of people are retaining the stock muffler). Anyways, please comment on the sound quality and loudness. If you can compare it to other exhausts you have heard in person, then all the better. Oh yeh, and please post a sound clip if possible (I've only heard one clip so far). Thanks guys.
Mark

I have the turboxs stage 2 with the complete system and I was worried about how loud it would be. Im 34yo and didnt want a loud exhaust note, but the system is not loud at all. Its has a deep rumble and sounds good at idle and wot. Driving on the highway is fine, no loud exhaust note at all. I was very shocked on how on the low level of sound. I dont think youll be disappointed, also it looks great.

I diddo with Delman said. The Turboxs exhaust is not loud at all. It is louder than stock but it isn't loud. I really like the sound. If you race your WRX it will get a little louder over time. I have the full exhaust with their race pipe and my car has a real low rumble sound. I think it sounds bad axx.
I really can't see why anyone would want the stock rear section unless they just want their wrx to look stock.

Some of the more important features of this exhaust. The piping doesnt hang down low like some others I've seen. Also the muffler has a very thin box so you don't have to worry about bottoming out on speedbumps or uneven surfaces. It's made by Magnaflow which is a very common muffler. It just has the correct pipe welded on in the back and a much nicer tip. It's not loud at all. It just sounds like a boxer engine should. You have heard the sound of a stock 911 right? Sounds kinda like that.

imho, 2 sweet sounding systems (best balance of loudness/boxer sound, tone, "adult sportiness sound" and construction) are:

1. Turbo XS for single tip

2. Stromung for dual tip (which I have)

Heh, heh, ran out and picked up a Turbo XS this afternoon. Mach V Motorsports was even nice enough to throw it on for me I installed the rear section only; stock mid-pipe.

Around town, the exhaust is definately noticible, and intrudes into the cabin. However, I have a wagon, so it may be louder than the sedan b/c of the hatch. On the highway, it is barely noticible though, which is great! Once you hit your cruising speed, it quiets down very quickly. So it's only noisy when accellerating.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. The quality is great (welds are much better than Stromung). Can't say I feel any gains, but I wasn't expecting any. I only wish it was a tad quieter, but we'll see how things go after a week or 2.

Default turbo xs

i have the rear section, and i love it. it has a nice low tone, not too loud. cant hardly hear it at highway speeds

just a word about magnaflow. a few months ago while i was still looking for an exhaust i saw a sepcial on speedvision about this magnaflow. they had a tour of their plant and everything. i was very impresses with their opperation, quality control, etc. well i was considering just getting the unichip from turbo xs and getting a different exhaust system, well when i found out that they were using a magnaflow i was sold. i got the full stage one kit and i love it. i will soon be upgrading to their stage two.

another happy turbo xs customer

I'm probably extra sensitive, but I think my TurboXS is still too loud Took a 2 hour road trip today, and it was rumbling all the way.

Is there anything out there that's a bit quieter? Stromung? Or Brullen "quiet" version cat back? I'd like something a bit more rumbly than stock, but this thing just growls too much

I've had mine on my wrx wagon for 3 months/ 4,000 miles. The quality of the fit and welds is excellent. The sound has mellowed into a ballsy boxer burble that sounds good at idle and especially good when winding it up on the highway. I'm also old and didn't want an overly conspicuous exhaust note- just something that better fit the character of the car. I will install the downpipe, cat and midpipe this weekend- but the parts look to be of equally high quality. Especially the downpipe- that sucker is huge!

I was gonna get the BPM MKiii and dynamat the floor. The car could use some noise killing anyway. I'll prolly get the TurboXS exhaust and if the noise level's a bit loud, I'll just trap the noise outside.

If you want quietier than a stock set up with just the rear section from Turboxs, I have to wonder.
I have full turboxs exhaust with race pipe. It has a really nice sound. You would probably think its loud but compared to other modded cars its very quiet. Even with my full turboback exhaust plus race pipe, I have the quietiest car at the track. I cant even hear my exhaust over the other cars.
If you want a totally quiet car you should stick with the stock rear section and get an aftermarket downpipe and midpipe to mate up with it. That will give you performance gains and a stock sounding car.
There is no way you will notice a performance gain from just the rear section exhaust from Turboxs. It probably only giving you 3-5hp at the most. Most the HP to be gained with be found in the downpipe and midpipe.

Default any sound differnece?

Is there ANY sound difference when using the TXS tubo back piping with the stock muffler section VS completely stock? I wouldn't mind a HAIR throatier/louder sound but I think even the TXS muffler section is too loud for what I want.

Oh, forgot to ask. Is this muffler a straight thru design (you can look through one end and see out the other) or chambered? I'd assume it's straight thru, but just making sure. Thanks for the comments so far. Keep 'em coming.

I dunno. Maybe I have a leak, but my impression is that this exhaust is almost as loud as a BPM twister turbo back that I sat in a few months ago. Although it sounds awesome, it's still a bit much for me.

How do I tell if I have a leak? I'm leaning towards pulling it off and going back to stock

I just installed this combo this weekend and I can't really tell much difference. You hear a little deeper sound when you go WOT but otherwise it's no different. You do however hear more of the turbo but if you had some kind of CAI/resonator removal in the past then it's not really much different.
