Nice bike. I had a GPZ 550 over 20 years ago. Amazing how far the technology has come.

lol. this bike still runs the technology from the 80's. I think they changed the plastics slightly in 1994 but other than that it's the same. but why change what works. My 05 CBR on the other hand, that thing was incredible. I just wish people would pay more attention and not pull out in front of me. That sucked. But this is a great first bike.

I'm actually looking for my first bike right now. This is perfect, just a little out of my price range at the moment.

well i paid over 5K for it new in june of '06, rode it for the rest of the summer, and half of last summer before I bought my 600rr. Had the 600rr for 2 months exactaly and someone didn't see me and pulled out in front of me. So that got totaled. But the Ninja is mint, and is under factory warranty until june of '09.

SOOOO tempting, I been wanting to have a bike since two summers ago but never got the chance to. I wanted a 600 but people keep telling me to start with a 500 since I'm short a skinny plus no bike riding experience.

this 500 was my first bike, it was really perfect. The 250 is way too small, you outgrow them in a week, but the 500 has more power and rides like a sport bike, the 250 rides like a bicycle. I guarantee you will have a great time on it. and then next year you can move up and will be totally confident riding a bigger bike. I was able to hop on my buddy's R1 no problem, but that is way too much bike LOL. If you buy it i'll even throw in my matching Icon Leather jacket if it fits you.

Depends on the person. I don't have a bike but I ride friends bikes and I rode a friends Ducati Monster 900 last week and I was fine. It doesn't matter how much power the bike has if you are a natural rider (or just good) it does not matter if you are on a 1400cc bike if you can control the power its not a big deal. Just because you have a lot of power doesn't mean you need to use it. When you put the bike to its full potential thats when people get killed.

True life. I have a buddy who is 5'2" and his first 2 bikes were GSRX 750s. The 500 is a great confidence builder though, easy to handle and enough power to have fun but not too much for beginners, because let's be realistic, when people buy a supersport for their first bike, for the most part they just want to rail the piss out of it and do wheelies, not learn to ride and handle the bike. Actually I asked at my local Honda/Kawasaki shop about the zx14's they sold and every one they sold last year was totalled in a week of selling it.

Nuff said on that.

I prefer to just ride the bike, have the power, I know what it can do I don't need to show it off. Same thing really goes for an STi I mean it has power that NO ONE needs on a day to day basis but its just nice to have and to use on occasion. When you start showin off thats when things get messy.
