get a used sti intercooler. you won't need to get a tune and it cools alot better than the stock wrx one.

I've only read bad things about CSS's customer service.

I'd stick with the STi one; install compatibility & STi cachet FTW. There's always some on eBay. Its what I'm looking to do.

Why don't you check out the CSS thread in the vendor group buy section and see all the complaints.

I was in on the group buy.

The intercooler itself is pretty nice. It is larger than the STI intercooler, fits well, and is priced well. The stock scoop should be fine, but it looks like the splitter is smaller than an STI one, so I would look for a larger one or modify yours.

Their customer service needs improvement. The nicest thing I can say that I eventually got it, and they didn't fall off the face of the earth for more than, say, 72 hours at a time. However, check the GB thread, people still may be waiting...

I think they just got completely overwhelmed by the reponse they had to their (first ever) group buy, and misunderstood the delays that their own supply chain would experience.

If I were going to buy another peice from them, I would make contact and verify that what I wanted was in stock before I payed them a dime. I would make it very clear to them, when I received confirmation of the in stock status, that I would scream bloody murder to Paypal/credit card company I paid with if it hadn't arrived within 7 days of ordering an in stock item.

From the rather smaller WRX one, sure.

From the STI one... very debatable. I've seen marginal gains, at best. I want to pull off the TMIC and port the elbow pieces this weekend and see how much difference that makes.

I swapped mine because I wanted something that looked a bit different, and I'll probably install meth, and don't want to drill out a stock piece.

yeah, go drive it for 20 minutes and touch it. Heatsoak like a mofo. now i drive mine pretty hard on a daily basis and just decided to go front mount, mailly cuz i just took off my heatshield when i got my d/p and never put it back on. Just make sure with any top mount you get keep some kind of heatshield(assuming you have a downpipe)

But it won't make a stock Wrx with a stage 1 Cobb tune run lean or rich?

I figure you get what you pay for which can be a somabitc*h, but I really like the TXS cooler I decided to go with, Its a great peice of work and installed in 10 min with no probs (although a bit pricey). I havent read any research on the CSS but I did read the "complaint" thread. Then again there are so many STi top mounts being swapped out on here that if price was a problem I would have definitly picked one up over a CSS. Good luck man
