Another candidate for Shell Rotella Synthetic 5w-40, $4/qt at Wal-Mart and track-proven.

Definitely don't run GTX 10W40. There was a Forester XT owner that ran it and it always sheared to a 30 weight in less than 4,000 miles.

Are you running conventional oil in a stage IV bugeye?!?? I think I would use Rotella conventional 15W40. For synthetic GC might be ok, but I would probably go with RTS that Mr. Wilson recommended.

I'm very proud of the two first posters. No flames on this question which will get asked an additional 78,245 times in the next two months.
