Default AVIC D3 + Itouch Ipod

Well last weekend I learned what happens when you plug an iphone into the ipod adapter of my AVIC D3. Note to self: Don't do it.

Does anyone have an AVIC d3 and can plug an itouch into it using the ipod adapter.

What happens with the itouch? I know with my classic, it doesn't play the video (which totally sucks).

I did this with my alpine Ipod interface thing and it completely ruined my phone.

I got a D3 and connect my iphone to it all the time. I would recommend putting it into ipod mode before plugging it into the D3. One time, the D3 made my iphone get stuck in headphone mode. To fix it, I had to blast the headphone jack with some compressed air.

It might depend when you purchased the D3. The older ones may need a firmware upgrade from Pioneer to run the new Ipod's. I have a kenwood 8019 and i had to do a firmware upgrade to use my new classic and yes i can see my video.

Or you could use the aux-input with a 3.5mm to audio/video cable. Kinda defeats the "ipod integration," but it works.

I use my D1 in this manner so that I can use a few different types of players, depending on whos in the car on road trips. Zunes, Creative Zen, iPod, it dont matter with the right universal cable.

When I plugged it in, the Iphone said "this device is not designed to be used with the iphone, next thing the screen went white and the battery got insanly hot. I just don't want to get the touch and fry it.

No video "integration" (control) with the PIONEER AVIC-D3.

I have an iPhone, wife has a 80GB iPod. Neither works for video (in her or my AVIC). I've also tried the 08 STI iPod touch... no different. Sorry.

For what it's worth, iPod (Touch/Classic/iPhone, etc) music control works quite well, albeit lacking any advanced features. Music does start playing seconds after the car is turned on, before the head-unit is really powered on. It also remembers where in the song you were last, even when unplugging iPod/iPhone/iTouch in the middle of a song. With the iPhone, ring tone plays over the car speakers (which is fantastic if you are listening to music at any volume, given the iPhone's anemic speaker). My only fault with the AVIC ipod integration, OTHER than NO video support, is the basic music interface (can't be listening to all random, then select and artist/album... also, no fast scroll... sucks if you have lots of music). Ultimately, the AVIC iPod integration is still better than any head-unit I've seen, short of a CarPC (which I've run in the past).

Bingo. In order to view iPhone / iPod Touch / iPod "Classic" video, you'll have to go AV in (no AVIC control over video playback).

I think the iPod depends on the generation. I can do video just fine through the iPod interface with my brother's 5.5gen 80gb iPod video. I've heard that it won't do video through the classic, though. Which is too bad, because with 160gb and a smaller resolution, you could fit a LOT of video on there...

Just installed my avic d3 this week, and have an Ipod touch. The only issue that I have is that it doesn't play the video. Music plays well, though.

Just a note on the iPhone... it uses a newer, lower voltage charger. So if you are using an old iPod adapter that is designed to charge while in use, it will not be compatible with the iPhone, or may cause intermittent problems.

Try using the video in input on the AVICD3 with a video out cable from the iPhone.
