Okay, lately I have been wanting to get rid of my standard WRX wing, but I am disappointed with my options. If you want a low profile option, pretty much your only choices are totally wingless, Limited spoiler and Mine's style lip spoiler.
Personally, I think the Limited looks really tacked on and weird, and I don't want to go through the trouble of getting the Mine's spoiler molded into the trunk (it looks like crap unless you do this). Also, EVERYBODY is going wingless, I want something different. People, why, oh why, hasn't someone made a different style trunk? I mean, just look at anyone with a molded Mine's spoiler, and it becomes immediately apparent that a WRX would look REALLY good with an M3/1 series style raised trunk lip. I can't believe someone hasn't done this already. It would sell like MAD. I mean seriously, all these manufacturers have spent a zillion dollars developing front lips, sideskirts and rear bumpers, but they forgot to make a fix for our weird trunks. If I had photoshop skilz I would draw what I'm talking about, but I don't. I want a trunk that doesn't have the two down-sloping creases on the sides...I want a smooth one that has a nice, clean looking raised lip spoiler. Not a spoiler to tack on...I want and entire trunk. I know I'm not the only person that has thought of this. There have been other threads about developing tack-on lip spoilers, but I don't remember anyone suggesting an entirely new, differently designed trunk. Anyone else think this would be a huge hit? Post some thoughts and opinions, and maybe a fabricator will take the initiative and finally make a trunk our cars deserve. Oh, and if there is one that I don't know about, please point me to it. Thx, -E

There already have been a couple of redesigned-ish trunks with lip spoilers built in.
There's one by do-luck and one by some other company with an odd (Italian maybe) brand name I cannot remember (someone on here should know and I know one user here has one.... ) I agree though that it would be nice to see something new come about. I know what you mean. I got sick of the huge STi spoiler after a while and switched to a wrx spoiler. Now I want something different tho.

I think I've seen that Do-Luck trunk before, I'd forgotten about it. I guess what I have in mind is the lip spoiler going all the way from one side to the other. I'd like to see the other one you mentioned. I really need to go find a cheap trunk and start messing around with it. Maybe I'll get the chance someday. People, keep posting thoughts and opinions. Thanks to those that have so far.

How interchangeable are the trunks? Like, would one for an 02 fit an 05?
It would be pretty easy to make one if people would buy it. |

All trunklids from 2002 -2007 are Interchangable. Just depends on the color and having the right torsen bars for the weight of the wing you have or dont have.

Met a guy today who had a custom lip spoiler molded onto his trunk. Looked pretty good, though he says it makes a great puddle on his trunk when parked.

ok, just this once (maybe)
Torsion - 1: the twisting or wrenching of a body by the exertion of forces tending to turn one end or part about a longitudinal axis while the other is held fast or turned in the opposite direction; also : the state of being twisted Torsen - a type (brand) of limited slip differential (Torsen = Torque Sensing) , from the Audi Quattro, which appeared on the 2007 STI. so, torsion rod, or torsion bar. ![]() |

I drew a line on this picture to show the general size/shape of the lip spoiler that I have in mind:

I've got mad fiberglass skillz, it's what I do.
How much are you willing to pay for something like this? Is it something that more people are looking for, or are we talking about like 5 guys here? |

Personally if i won the jackpot today, getting a mines molded trunk is where my first batch of $ would go, they look so MONEY its not even funny. Is there anyway with you fiberglass skills to get the dimensions of the mines spoiler and just make a mock up and mold it? |

It would be tricky, but I imagine I could get something pretty close-looking to it. The more pictures and measurements the better obviously. What exactly are people looking for, an EXACT replica of that spoiler shown, or something a bit bigger, lower profile?
Its really not a big deal to do something like that, I do custom stuff like that every day. Its a matter of there being enough interest in it that its worth my time, and then me finding a trunk so I can make sure it fits. I looked today, I can find a used one not too far away for about $200. I don't know Subarus market very well, I'm quite new at them so I need to know more about it if I'm going to consider doing this. |

SiZ, I am sure it wouldn't be too hard, but the style would have to be something different than what is available now. In my mind, I picture a trunk with a lip spoiler about the same height as the white line I drew in the second picture. I'd like to see the two stock trunk creases either gone completely, or maybe curving in to connect before the lip spoiler. I am going to try and work up a crude drawing to show what I'm talking about. Maybe someone who can Photoshop can do a little experimenting. I'm sure there would be quite a few people that would be interested. I will post up a little bit later with a drawing. Thx

sounds like you are talking about something that looks like an e46 M3 CSL style trunk. Would be pretty interesting, especially if you could get the 3rd brake light in some how...I would be interested in somehting like that...

Something like that, except maybe a little more low profile. Still haven't gotten around to messing with a drawing. Anyone want to do some photoshop magic?

Is that a lip spoiler? Never heard of it. Oh, and if you look around the vendor section you'll see that replicas are all the rage. Anyhow, that's not really what I'm talking about here. I want something new!
