Default Finally settled my insurance claim, got money back

Well after 48 days in the body shop and $11,000 in damage I go my wrx back. I was rear-ended at a stop light by a lady on her cell phone. One good thing is that I had an Sti rear bumper put on and upgraded to an APS 3' exhaust from an Greddy Evo 2. I had the car repaired at Details Ltd. in Addison, great body shop.

But the best thing is that after I got it back from the body shop, I had it appraised for a diminished value claim which cost me $350. The total diminished value about was $3957 and I just got a call today saying that State Farm has agreed to pay the full amount. They agreed without any haggling.

I highly recommend pursuing a diminished value claim after an accident.

The company I went through is:

Direct Appraisal
James Walden
(972)306-4913
www.directdv.com

He travels between Dallas, Austin, and Houston

He also said he sees the best returns on claims is in Austin and the worst is in Houston.

Chris

anyone know what the time limit is to place a diminished value claim? Does it make your rates go up? does it effect your future coverage i any way?

I'm glad things worked out for you!

I believe you have a fairly broad window to file a claim. If it is a third party claim (going against the other persons insurance), than your rates should not go up at all, if it does, you have a pretty crappy insurance agent.

Just give him a call, tell him Chris from Dallas w/ the Subaru sent you.

if you have a payoff on the car send all $3957 towrds it, Because its going to be worth 3000 less when it comes to selling it or trading it

For one, you can't file diminished value against your own insurance carrier UNLESS it was a un-insured motorist claim. you can't hold the insurance company responsible for a loss of value if your dumbass wrecked the car...lol...only if some other idiot does it for you. it should not affect your coverage at all.
