Default Borla XR-1 Catback Exhaust - 02-07 WRX sedan - $275

SOLD

Thanks for your interest!

Borla XR-1 2.5" catback. Full stainless. Sounds great - tough and burly, but not too loud. I never got pulled over with this once, even driving everyday in a WRX with an STI wing. It's in good condition -- no rust, has a couple of light scrapes, but these are not seen when the exhaust is installed (see pics). Has a cone flange to mate to stock and stock-type downpipes. You can get a 3" flange adapter from places like Maddad for mating to 3" DP's, or you can just bolt it up tight with about four universal 3" exhaust gaskets between the flanges.

Here's what some NASIOC'ers have to say about this exhaust:

"the lowest frequency/best sounding cat-back"

"I would say this is a mid-volume exhaust with one of the best tones in the market. It also DOES NOT DRONE at highway speeds."

$275 + shipping (was $550 new). Ships from SoCal. Local pickup is fine, too.

PM's are preferred to replies on this thread. Thanks!

Pics: (The first pic is not my car, but it's wearing the Borla XR-1 Catback. The rest are my exhaust that's for sale.)

are u sure this is the xr-1 ??? im pretty sure the xr-1 is 3" .... i think u have the "agressive 2.5" catback" (cant use the 3" adapter) ...

http://www.jscspeed.com/wrx/exhaust/borla.htm

if this is a true 3" xr-1 i will take it !!!

This one has a 2.5" inner diameter. It was called the XR-1 when it came out. I'm thinking the newer 3" model has inherited the XR-1 name. As for the adapter issue, I used my exhaust with a 3" Helix downpipe with no leaks. Here's how. The inlet on my catback tapers from 2.5" out to a 3" diameter to mate to the donut gasket on the stock DP. So you do have a 3" junction, but no donut gasket. All I had to do to create a seal was to sandwich four universal 3" exhaust gaskets (from any auto parts store) between the catback's floating flange and the DP flange. Voila. No leaks (and this was tested). That's the < $10 solution. But if you wanted, any decent muffler shop could make an adapter for very little cash if you wanted a true 3" flat-flange junction. As for the performance benefits from the 3" catback versus 2.5", talk to any of the good tuners (like Harman Motive) and they'll tell you the difference is minimal, especially with the 2.0L WRX block. 2.5L's with giant turbos, you'd see a little more of a difference.
