.5 Qt in 750 miles?

As the title states my car was down about 1/2 a qt of oil after 750 miles of driving. Is this ok? My intercooler does have some baked oil in it. I am using mobile 1 5w-30 is that does any good.

Do a search on Mobil1. You will find a lot of posts on this. 1 qt per 1,000 miles (or is it 7-800 now?) is consider "normal" consumption by Subaru and a lot of other manufacturers.

However, if you're looking to curb consumption go to a higher viscosity or more robust oil. M1 10W30 High Mileage, M1 0W40, M1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W40, etc.

Though it shouldn't necessarily be this way, switch to a conventional oil (not one labeled 'synthetic'), and try a diesel-spec variant like Rotella T 10W30. There are many other possible explanations besides oil type or viscosity, of course, and you've given fairly little info about the engine.

Sorry my engine internals are stock. I have a vf39, cobb catted turbo back, prodrive cai, sti tmic and a protune. The motor has about 43,000 miles on it. I do drive it fairly hard occasionally. I have not tracked it yet but i do plan on it.

if your eating oil on mobil which as said before can happen on teh Suby's I'd switch it out for something else if you didn't have the problem before. Amsoil, Castrol syntec, etc.
