Angry Check Engine Light fixed...

Follow up from Ft. Myers

One check engine light and 150 bucks later, the culprit was a blown Knock-Sensor! (warranty covered it up till 45,000 miles)(currently I have 51,000 miles). Same symptoms as the bad ignition coil.

Thanks to SUV-ETR & RS Chic, for their help this Sunday, following me back from the Pro Solos to Mastro. I really appreciate it you two!

Cool, except for the $150 bit.

Did the knock sensor affect performance at all?

Yes, very much so! Between 2500-3000 RPM the car would buck, so the entire way back from Ft. Meyers we averaged 80mph to keep the car at al little over 3000 rpm.

Ironically not until I pulled up to the light in front of Mastro did the CE Light start to Flash on & off repeatedly (which means your in really deep doo doo).

At that point, I would've seen the flashing CS light too.

Question

You mean the engine's knock sensor doesn't fall under Subaru's 5-year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty????

Apparently not, I questioned that too, but Gene looked it up in the book for me and it says 45,000 miles. Hmmm a new Nissan SER-Spec V is becomming more and more appealing as the days roll on

Hmmm that's odd, I've heard of the bumper-to-bumper warranty ending at 36,000 miles, and the powertrain & emissions warranties ending at 60,000 miles, and even the "rust through" warranty ending at something like 100,000 miles...

I don't ever remember reading anywhere that certain items warranties ended at 45,000 miles....

Odd...did you confirm that with anyone else?

Sadly, the other person that I would have prefered to deal with was not available.
