Default Binding after highway driving?

Alright, something weird going on. After I get done driving on the highway (60+ miles or so) when I get off, if I turn tight (like in a parking lot) the car feels like it is binding up and struggling. Both left and right, clutch in or out, no clicking, no sounds. It goes away after I have been driving through the turns in town. The front CV joints are a year old installed by a subaru master mechanic.

1996 Legacy, 2.2, 5speed. Any ideas?

might want to check them out again? you hear clicking or popping when doing slow turns?

that or your rack (heh) and pinion might be going bad.

No clicking no popping. Just feels like a cyclical drag somewhere in the driveline that causes the car to bind. Literally, it'll slow the car down as I coast into a parking spot.

i`d probably say its the rack and pinion then. you have a hayne`s repair manual? they have a troubleshooting section about steering in there. if not, should be available at any large autoparts store.

Dan, probably a long shot but have you felt your wheels after this happens? Are they blisteringly hot? Might want to check the front calipers and see if they are binding, doesn't make any sense since it's only when turning, but I don't know, maybe something in the brake system...

Just throwing randoms thoughts at you to get the "wheels" turning in your head.
