Default Photos from the last few weeks (Lotus, Shelby, Car Shows etc)

If you are bored at work and want something to read...read on. If you read my thread about my trip to Tokyo you will know how much writing is about to follow. Otherwise, if you do have better things to do, sift through my blabbing for the pictures

Welp, I haven't posted here in a while and a number of fun things have happened in the last few weeks. The best of which was my spring break trip to Las Vegas. I had been to Vegas before (Christmas vacation), but this was my first time visiting being 21. Now while most newly 21 year olds go to Vegas and waste their money on booze, slots and strippers...I took a slightly different route. I chose to "waste" my money on a grey, 1900lbs, 190 horsepower, go-cart on crack...a Lotus Elise. Now, it didn't have the flash of some of the other available cars nor the power for that matter but there was just something about the Lotus that reeled me in. Now to be fair, the Lotus was 300 dollars for 24 hours and the 360 Modena was 600 for three hours so that may have had a little to do with my decision. Anyhow, it was my third to last day and I figured it was time to pull the trigger and reserve the car for the following day. I cant remember the name of the company that I used off the top of my head but they were awesome (I will edit this when I figure it out). I would recommend them to anyone looking for an exotic car rental in Vegas.

We had some time to kill before we picked up the car at 2 so we ventured over to the Nascar track to check out the Shelby factory. I have a few photos from there but unfortunately they wouldn't allow photos of the factory itself. If anyone is interested in seeing what I do have, let me know and I will re-host them (they came out too small the first time).

The next few hours felt like an eternity but finally it was time to go pick up the Lotus. If you have never seen one in person before, let me tell you..it is TINY! It makes my girlfriends Mini feel like a Mack truck. The second thing you notice is that there is no possible way to get in or out of this car with any sort of grace whatsoever. I mean you kind of just have to plop in. Girls, an Elise definitely is not a car you want to wear a skirt in because you are almost certainly going to pull a Lindsay Lohan. The saleswoman kept speaking about stuff that was probably pretty important but I couldn't take my eyes off the keys. Once she finally handed them to me, my girlfriend and I were off to Red Rocks Park the most fun car I have ever driven.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the area, Red Rocks is home to an extremely twisty, 13 mile, one way road and was the perfect place to test this car out. "Ridiculous" is the only way to describe how this car handles. The term "drives like it is on rails" is thrown around quite frequently these days but save the Ariel Atom, there is no other car that is more true for. I mean, I had to try my very hardest to even get a little chirp out of the super sticky Advans. After a few laps of this road from heaven, I figured it was time to shoot some photos...and here they are

Driving this car was definately a cool feeling. People asking to take their picture with it, gawking at it in parking lots, trying to figure out what the hell it actually was...other then the obvious awesomeness of driving it, it was just a fun overall experience.

I have a bunch more photos that I haven't edited yet but I guess that will have to wait. Photos to come:

AWDpirates.net annual spring meet
100 mile long rally photos
My bugeye
CU Sports Car Club spring car show

Hope you guys like the photos I posted already and the ones still to come

How about the first Cobra ever made?

I do actually have a picture or two of the Series 1 but those still need to be uploaded and edited.

Shoulda got the Modena...

Just kiddin' around. That would be A-M-A-Z-I-N-G but $600 is quite a bit of money for just 3 hours. I am so jealous of you right now. Great write-up and pics. I enjoyed it!

This is what happens when you let a girl borrow your camera...

Really though, I borrowed her camera to take some wide shots of the car because I didnt feel like switching lenses back and forth.

Thanks a lot man! Its a Canon XTi with Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS L, 17-85 and 50 f1.8 lenses. Most are shot with the 70-200 though.
