The most you've driven on "E"

No.. Not Ecstacy... Im talking about Fuel.
How far has anyone gone as soon as the fuel light went on before the gased up..

Just curious so I dont have to worry when Im on empty and I cant get to a gas station.. So far I have driven 15 Miles.

I thought I would have something to add, but about 15miles is the furthest I've pushed it too.

I work in NY, live in NJ... If you've ever tried to buy gas in Tarrytown NY ($1.51 day before yesterday) you know why I wait till I get home before refueling

33 miles on the hwy driving to FL at around 3am. and yeah, i was starting to get nervous since i couldnt find an open gas station.

When my gas light goes on, I can only fill it with about 13 gallons, so I have about 3 left. That's only happened twice, though, and I never pushed it.

One time I pushed it to the 63 mile mark after the light came on. It started to sputter as I pulled up to the gas pump. After I did the math I figured that I had about a pint of fumes left in my tank. Damn that was a hair raising trip.

'Don't know what you RS guys are averaging, but my WRX is getting 21.8 mpg. The most I've put on the car with the 'dummy light' on is about 18.

I've put a bunch on with the light. From hackensack to lower manhattan, then back through the lincoln tunnel to jersey (with heavy traffic, and I was getting scared, you do NOT want to run out of gas in the lincoln tunnel) to the path station in hoboken then back to weehawken finally for gas. I was worried in the tunnel, everything else was ok.

I have actually driven all the way home with the light on.

I goto school in Jersey City and live in Vernon.
Total trip is like 77 miles or so. Was very scared when i did it in the middle of the night. I agree Jet.

I drove from the GW bridge to Newark airport to drop some friends off, we were late so I didn't have time to get gas.

Anyhow the car started sputtering just as I got into the airport.
I had visions of me being on the evening news as the idiot who caused a terrorist shutdown of Newark airport by parking their car outside the terminal and refusing to move it. (the swat guys wouldn't believe the no gas story).

So, I kicked my friends out (literally) at the terminal and the car made it about another 1/4 mile where it died just as I ran it up onto a traffic island (gotta love the ground clearance).

I will zero one of my trip meters then try not to exceed 40 miles. So far, so good.

You guys are crazy! I never let the tank get to 'E'! On my old car when the 'Low Fuel' light went on it basically meant you have 3 miles to get gas, so I guess I'm still in that mentality...

Since my gas gauge has a mind of its own anymore, I can usually drive about 70 miles after the "fume light" comes on. If I fill up the car when the light comes on, the tank usually only takes about 12.5 gallons.

This is the type of accuracy I have after paying ~$300 to have the fuel gauge fixed about a year ago

Be careful, if the temp drops below freezing at night, you risk getting condensation in your gas tank if you have less than a 1/4 tank full. Then you need to dump dry gas in.

well for some reason my ididot light is broken
i drove past the e mark on the guage for quite some time a while back, and i was goin up a hill and pow engine died as i ran out of gas

never once did the gas light come on
