Default Trailer leveling jacks as car stands

I'm always paranoid when I'm under a car and place 'backup' jack stands just in case. I've been looking at trailer leveling stands like these as potential backups: http://www.amazon.com/Camco-44561-Ol...8575005&sr=1-3

The advantage they offer is that you can use the screw adjustment to get them completely snug againt the car as it sits on the primary stands.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this type of stand to know if they would be safe as jack stands? They say 8000lb load rating.

I don't think you'd want additional stands snug up against the car. When you take the load off the primary stands they're more likely to be pushed out of place/over.

Good point. Though I'd be snugging them up not really taking weight off.

What do others use as a backup?

Even though I'm on a concrete floor and using four Craftsman 4-ton stands, I feel that I need something if I'm going to be all the way under.

At the moment I have a couple of 3.5 ton stands under there as being better than nothing as a backup. Maybe old wheels with wood piled on them are a good option. They won't tip like a stand.
