Default Since I know what my Gunatic gunnies say, lets hear what otters say.

I have a dilemma of sorts.

My wife (woah that sounds weird) wants to buy me a pistol in the $500-700 range as a wedding gift which is uber cool, so here's the problem:

I have many polymer pistols, around 10 mostly glocks with a couple variants and not a single steel pistol, as much as I love poly pistols for their durability, ruggedness, and accuracy, I'd like to switch it up a bit. I have two pistols in mind:

1. Springfield Arms 1911 Milspec A1, If I got a 1911 THIS would be it, so no kimber this, kimber that...

The next option is:

2. Glock 36. Single stack .45 in .45ACP, yeah, it's a polymer pistol, and I've had my eye on it for over a year now...

So do I get the 1911 or stick with what I know and love and get a subcompact .45 pocket rocket?

What do you goons think?

I was in the same boat, being the owner of several polymer autoloaders.

I picked up this on Friday night.

100 rounds thru it yesterday, and I am really enjoying it.

I vote 1911.

It was this or a G35, I don't regret my choice .

I don't understand why kimber doesn't do the larger ejection port like springfield does.

Everyone talks so highly about kimber, so I tried out a bunch, nothing really fit my likings, but I fell in love with the SS SA Milspec 1911 A1, bigger ejection ports and better sights like your model.

the pic of the grips you want... i notice the hitman logo emblazoned across the pistol and am not surprised in the slightest.

Springfield makes great products. I love my XD, and fire it more often than all my others. I was seriously contemplating the Milspec A1, but went with the Kimber for pure appearance. Other than that it was a toss-up.

I'm really hoping I have no troubles with this 1911, I know they have been known to have components break.

If this is a wedding gift, do you think it would be more appropriate to get something "pretty" instead of a Glock? Don't get me wrong, I like the Glocks, but I think a wedding gift should be something more fancy looking as well.

I'd go 1911.

1911s are great if you like to fiddle with them. I have 3. Have you considered a Sig? like the 229 or 226?

that's exactly what you need, another gun.

Is she retarded and can't find any in your house or something?

Is that what you really want?

I think it's a feminine trick to make you think about her more ("oh boy, guns, guns, guns....aw, she bought that one for me," but I'm jaded and cynical.

Define "pretty" hot-rod. Beauty is in the eye of the be-holder. To some people, polymer, a light trigger, and numerous pistol rounds ready to be accurately and reliably despensed at a moments notice is all the beauty they need.

Besides, i never understand why people would buy someone a gift that they dont want...or there is gift in the same price range that they would rather have. He wants a gun, why would he get anything else?

Btw- i vote steel...polymer>steel, but i enjoy the overall feeling of shooting a well oiled steel over poly.
