Default Hard shift from 1st to 2nd under light throttle in a 04 Baja Turbo with 4eat

Over the last 5-6k miles I've noticed a hard shift from 1st to 2nd under light throttle (it's o.k. under hard throttle).

When I bought the car at about 40k I noticed if I slowed for a right turn when I got back on the throttle it was like the tranny went from neutral to 1st or 2nd pretty hard. Took it to Subaru and they said 'no codes and couldn't replicate the problem."

I'm now at 69K. Since I noticed the newer problem of hard shift under light accelleration I had Subaru flush and refill the tranny, no improvement.

Any suggestions other than accelerate harder?

Isn't that a trait of Subaru 4EAT's?

My 04 FXT had this exact problem. My current 05 FXT doesn't. Sounds like an 04 production problem...

Could be. That's the way the techs @ Subaru acted but I'm probably going to have to sell the trucklet and figured I should get it fixed or know how to respond to the question when it comes up from a prospective buyer.

Thanks for the input guys.

Anybody else familiar with the problem from an 04 and was it utimately repaired or still driving it that way?

FINALLY! I just picked up the Baja and the techs finally fixed it. They said there was an update in the software, reflashed the ecu I guess and I just drove it back from the dealer.

Drives like a new one should. Smooth and appropriate timing of the shifts.

I don't know if this is new or not but it worked on mine.
