Default HID not lighting up at times!!?!

I finally installed my HID lights and sometimes only 1 bulb would come on at a time when i'm on DRL so i would turn on my lights on and off until both of them came on at the same time... does anyone know why this is happening or how i can fix this? I seem to have a lot of problem with HID lights

Try disabling your DRL first. Then try swap the working side ballast to the faulty side ballast. See if the problem persists.

from what i have heard it takes 13.1 volts to turn on each one so there may not be enough voltage during startup or when ever your drl's are activated . i guess try turning on the headlights then off by the switch to see if if would fix the problem . thank god mine didn't come with drl's lol .

I believe DRL doesn't supply a constant voltage, but more of a sinusoidal wave. The reason behind it is to prolong the bulb's life. The sinusoidal voltage wave can't be detected by the naked eye with halogen bulbs. But since HID requires a constant voltage, the voltage wave will cause the HID to turn on and off. The only way to solve the problem is to feed the HID with either 0v or full 12v.

Ok wait how does disabling the DRL help the HID both come on? keep in mind that my lights do'nt flicker... 1 just turns on and the other one don't... 2 are rarely off at the same time.

Had the same problem after DRL disable. Definitely due to low voltage during starter cranking. I just got in the habit of turning the lights off when parking and turning them on after the car was started.
