Default Any free Check Engine code readers?

I've searched on here but have come up empty. I thought enginuity/romraider could do it but if it can I don't know how. If anyone knows of anyway of doing it with a laptop please let me know. Thanks,

Jason

Tari shows codes. I'm not sure where to find it anymore, may find a link to it in the engine management section. If you come up empty and the file isn't too big, (dialup), I might be able to send you a copy. Shoot me a pm.

Think autozone still reads codes for free.

Autozone FTW. The Forester is a better (cheaper) car because of their OBDII reader...

I'm actually just posting because this thread is all about 2005 alumni.

I sold my accessport last year and I know autozone and advance do it, I was just hoping there was a program out there so I could check it at home. My neon I can just turn the key on/off 3 times in a row and get the code, but no such luck on the soobie. Thanks for suggestions though, and I'll look for that file you mentioned k mier.

There's something that looks promising. Says it will read trouble codes but I'm too tired to go out and try it tonight. It's downloaded so I'll try it tomorrow.

Not it you need a reliable OBD-II scanner. The AP sucks at reading codes. Half the time it reports nothing or an impossible code.

If you get codes read at AutoZone, you're sharing codes with every car the reader has ever read.

Car Chip. Relatively cheap, logs data constantly and reads/erases codes.
