Ha, I'd hand over the keys and an asteroid would fall on it.

Just kidding -- I actually don't want to get rid of it. She's been a great car. Little roomier and upscale than my bugeye was, quite a bit quicker, and dead reliable. It's a damn shame they no longer make stripper models (relatively speaking) like mine anymore though (I didn't want leather, or a sunroof, or a built-in ****ing toaster oven, etc. etc.) I actually paid about the same for my 05 LGT as I had for my 02 WRX (~$24k). In any case, I can highly recommend them.

They did take me away in a neck brace, no polyester suit lawyer around at the time though.

I was in a fender bender in my 03, but only the front bumper and 1 quater panel was damaged. Now I have a new bumper, quater and 2 new headlights. I can't believe how clear new headlights are. I'm getting some rockblocker to protect them so I can hopefully keep them clear.
From this, I found out that one of my headlights was plastic. The last accident I was in, the bodyshop replaced the lens with a plastic one. You might want to double check yours and make sure they are actually glass.

I work insurance claims and can help you along the way. First things first as I handle bodily injury and not property damage so I wont have a lot of info on that.

First things first, dont get a lawyer. You are going to end up with less money than you would in the first place. Having an attorney does not increase the value of your claim and they will not get you more money. Your claim is worth what it is worth with an attorney or not. What they will do is take 1/3 of your settlement, this is inclusive of your bills as well.

If you have Medical Payments Coverage or Personal Injury Protection (depending on your state), they are first in line to cover your medical bills. Then your insurance company will subrogate, or go back after the at fault parties insurance. The other parties insurance will not pay for your bills directly. They have no contract with you. If you do not have either of the above coverages, you will either have to pay the bills out of pocket, have your health insurance pick them up or let them go outstanding until you get a settlement from the other insurance company.

Next is your car. If you want your car taken care of right away, go through your own insurance. If you want it wait it out for the other parties insurance to figure out the liability, you can do that as well. It is your call. Just know that they will not pay for your car until liability is worked out. If someone ran a red light and there are no witnesses, they may go word vs word. It depends on what the police report says and both of your statements.

I hope this was somewhat helpful to get started. If you have any questions, shoot me a PM and I will do my best to answer them.

Good luck and sorry about the Suby

Edit: Just saw this and have to add a few things

Collect the police report as soon as you can, and it may not be a bad idea to talk to the office to make sure the story is straight.

After that, just hope and pray that guy's insurance pays up without a fight. You may let your insurance agent know what's happened, but make sure not to start a claim on your own insurance, but it's better to keep them in the loop (if its a local guy) just so they'll have your back and be up to speed if things get hairy.

When they are compensating for medical bills and the car (assuming totaled) talk to your insurance and even possibly a free consult with a lawyer. I already covered this above. They'll owe you for all medical expenses (No, they wont, not directly, they will either owe your insurance company or will include the amount of your bills total in your injury settlement once you are finished treatment) , time off work (This is only if the Dr. took you out of work due to your injuries. They will not cover you work if you decide on your own not to go. They also will not pay for your missed time to go to drs appointments. It is your responsibility to work your appointments around work.), travel (not a chance, insurance companies do not pay mileage or the fact that you had to drive to the drs. period.) and inconvenience (This is part of pain and suffering in the injury claim) and then in paying for the car (in some states OK for example) you are owed the retail value of a car in the same condition as yours plus any financial setbacks you incur with the purchase of the new vehicle. (tag title tax, and other expenses) (I cant really comment on this, but it does not sound right to me. Typically if they total your car, they will owe you the retail value of a similar vehicle with similar mileage and mods at a reduced value if applicable. I have never heard any such thing about paying for Tax Title and registration of a new vehicle, but their could also be something I am not familiar with about your state.)
A coworker was hit in her $14,000 kia, by the time the insurance co had to pay out for the car she got something like $18,000 + all medical which put it near $25,000. (Do not combine property damage and bodily injury. They are 2 seperate issues and one does not depend on the other. Also do not EVER compare your claim to someone elses. There are many factors that go into the value of your claim. You cant simply say that my friend Suzy had the same injuries as me and got $x,xxx. It is not as simple as that. Just a heads up really on that one.)

I'm glad you were going any quicker, it would have been a t-bone

Good luck in the recovery, you'll be hurting tomorrow.
Lastly about your injuries. You most likely have soft tissue injuries. Your vehicle damage really isnt that bad. And also so you are aware, soft tissue injuries arent worth that much. If you give me a breakdown of your injuries and treatment in the future, I can give you a ballpark of what they may offer you.

Again, hope this is helpful to you and good luck!

Cool. I actually want the bells-and-whistles-with-toaster options. I'm thinking a used 05 or 06 GT. A Spec B isn't out of the question either.

who cares about the car, mand, I'm glad you're okay.
BTW, watch for back problems in the next few days, and if there are any...I'm sure Tony will "hook you up"...
But don't wait on those, if you suspect any issue or have soreness, get it checked oot. Better safe than solly.

F the Spec.B. btw, save yo' money. LegGTPrem is totally fine

Wait, wat? I thought all the headlights were plastic. Or are you talking about the insides? The fogs are glass and I got a new one of those too, but the other was is very pitted and cloudy, kind of looks stupid now.

I'm almost positive that my factory headlight lenses were glass. The one they replaced it with was plastic though.

Thanks mang. I did go get checked out just to make sure. X-Rays show that nothing is busted up. I've just got some bruising. I know, tomorrow I'm going to be stiff as hell.

You're too surly to be taken down by a GMC land ship.

Your car on the other hand... man, that car took us to rattlesnake dinner! Be sure to get a cool car since your kid will probably inherit it by the time they're old enough to drive...hehehe...

She did take us to Rawhide. If you remember correctly, it had battle scars then as well from when dumb lady decided to open her taxi door into the car as it was moving. Man, that car has been through too much hell to be finally taken out by an SUV!

Sorry to hear it - glad you're OK.

I had my own bit of bugeye related heartbreak today, on the drive home got the old chattery-clangy-Bearing-Noise-of-Death, was down 2 quarts of oil but my stupid Oil Press gauge never showed a thing, nor did the dash idiot light.

So thats gonna be $3-4K. At least.

Break in with dino oil, then ran Walmart Mobil1 from about 4k miles to about 35k, then switched back to conventional because it was getting eaten up too quickly (1 qt every 1500 miles wasnt uncommon). Regular 5w30 seemed to work, and switched to 10w30 for the winter. Car now has 44k.

This might just be the death knell, I'm considering getting it fixed for as cheap as possible (by someone competent) going back to Stage 0, and sell it. Could use something larger. Doing the 2.35 hybrid block is tempting though.

Sucks. I was planning to run it another 45k at least.

Mobil 1 has been bad mojo for Subarus lately. Lots of consumption and spun main bearings and such. Supposedly they changed their formula about a year ago and it is crap now.

Sucks, yo.

Happened to me last year. Whore bitch t-boned me after running a red. No witness around. Cops couldn't determine who ran the light. We each paid for our own vehicles and mine was way worse as she was in an SUV.

Oh, and I also overheard one of the firemen that was on the scene cleaning up the crash to one of the paramedics that had arrived after they towed it away: "Damn, it was a nice WRX too."
