Default Clock in an '02 WRX

My wife is wanting me to try to fix the clock in her WRX. The one in the dashboard. It just up and died yesterday, and isn't working at all. Nothing. No lights.

Aside from pushing buttons (that is not doing anything), what can I do before I start taking the interior apart to try to find out what is wrong with this thing? Are these known for going out or is there an easy fix to restart the thing?

Check the fuses in the panels under the dash and the under the hood. If those are ok then check to see if power is getting to the power lead for the clock. The clock itself may be the problem. There has been a lot of problems with the clocks due to bad solder joints on the board. Particularly, to a resistor in the power circuit. By resoldering the connection the clock can work again, if that is the problem with yours also.

hey guys.. this is actually a pretty common problem with the 02 clock.. i almost purchased an 02' a few months ago with a dead clock and the dealer said it was about 75 to fix..

i then looked it up online and found this :

None of those links work for me.

The clock seems to work on and off, but mostly off. Seems to point to a loose connection (bad solder) or something.
