Question Open Source map to AP map?

Here's my problem...

I bought the AP looking for a quick easy way to tune for bolt ons and i did.

Now i'm looking at opensource and noticing that it seems that people are useing it more and are making better maps that seem to be getting more horse power and better tq than the ap maps. We all know that we want more power and if we can find an easier way to do it why not.

So here's my question... Can open source maps be put on the AP without having to spend the extra 200 on Street Tuner. So all you suby gurus let me know what you think.

BTW I'm kinda new at this tuning stuff so go easy on me.

no. Get StreetTUNER for 200, or buy a tactrix cable, D/L RomRaider, and have a ball!
I had an AP at first, then converted over to RR. Then built a big motor, used RR for a little while, then went BACK to AP+StreetTUNER, "FOR A WEEK", and returned to RR. Why? RR has much more functionality, and you can modify more tables, and the logging is top notch. The only downside to RR vs. AP+ST is the realtime tuning (currently), and honestly, ST only allows you to realtime tune a handful of tables, at best. And GOD forbid you lose that 1" long hasp key of Cobb's.. A positive note: you can sell your AP for good money, most often.
RomRaider = 1 set of tables, 1 tactrix cable, 1 laptop
Cobb's AP+ST = 2 sets of tables (base and RT), an AP, a power supply for the AP, a OBD cable, a serial (or usb) cable, and crap spread out across the table to upload your new maps to the AP. I just found it to be a big PITA.
When RamTune comes out in RR, my personal opinion is that AP will be sub-par. Oh yeah, APv2 has the cool trinkets, like 0-60, etc. Big whoop. It interests me none. I've got a GTech that does the same functions for 1/3 the price of an AP..

Am I an AP/Cobb hater? No, not at all. But for 900 bucks [700$ (AP new) + $200 (ST new)], I can get a NEW laptop, a tactrix cable, download RR, and have $300 left over. I know, because I did it.

try asking a protuner if they would make you an AP map from an opensource map you provide?? maybe PDX or someone local?
