Default 2009 Audi A3 2.0 TFSI to be available with Quattro AWD

Quote:
Ingolstadt, Germany – Audi announced that the refreshed 2009 Audi A3 2.0 TFSI will be offered with their Quattro all-wheel drive system for the first time in North America. Currently, the A3 2.0T is available only with front-wheel drive. The 2009 A3 2.0 TSFI Quattro will be offered exclusively with the S-Tronic dual clutch transmission, while the A3 2.0 TSFI FWD model will be available with the standard six-speed manual or optional S-Tronic transmission. The A3 3.2 V6 model will continue to offer only the S-Tronic transmission.

In addition, the 2009 A3 will offer new optional magnetic ride control, updated electronic stability control, revised frontal appearance and taillight design, and enhanced interior trim.

The 2009 Audi A3 is scheduled to go on sale in September, 2008. Prices will be announced later this year

This is what I've been waiting for VW to do to their GTI!
I guess it makes more sense on the over priced Audis.

Now if only they'd make it slightly bigger. I really don't think the back seat is useful for adults.

Still no AWD + 6 speed manual, tis a shame, they'd sell boatloads to all the people who bought GTIs but wouldn't splurge for a r32 for that reason

Audi should really consider doing a 2.0t quattro for the u.s.

if the gti had 2.0t awd, i would be sold right away.

car looks pretty good

I would say that my GTI is just as comfortable in the rear seats as my brother's OBXT (assuming 2 adults in the back... not 3).

The A3 is sexy, but it wasn't worth the money when I priced it out versus the GTI. You get flat seats and a more ho-hum interior in the A3 (comparing base to base, btw.) Plus, the plaid in my GTI is pure sex.

If Audi puts a diesel in the A3, that will be my wife's next car, I think. We're kinda on the fence between a Jetta Sportwagen TDi and the next generation Prius (or lexus version of the prius).

I just hope this gets the uprated engine with 211 HP and 258 lb/ft of torque. This will now be the only way to get the 2.0T with quattro, as the enew A4 will only have the turbo with FWD. It will be interesting, but I would hope for some improvement to the DSG for this next generation.

I have both a cloth (plaid) GTI and a Lux A3 (beige leather) The A3 is very nice inside and rides great. The GTI is way more sporty, even my wife can tell. I guess the S-line A3 would be more sporty then the Lux but it is a great roadtrip vehicle. 29MPG and plenty of storage

A U.S.-bound S3 four-door would be fantastic, and I'd really consider buying it.

The question is, what is the pricing expected to be for all of the cars in discussion (A3 AWD and whatever else)? That's a pretty big deal, no matter how good these cars are.

We get one and it's called the R32. It's crazy how much dealers are asking for these things. Dealer down the street wants 38k for theirs.

If all of you really want a 2.0T with standard, quatro and a hatch, just get an A4 wagon. They're only $30-36k.

Of course I live in a town where the only Subaru Dealer wants sticker for their only base model 08 STI, and the Mitsu dealer actually laughed at me when I said I wanted an Evo.

That's what the A4 is for.

Also, the A3 is already a bit larger than the GTI...

The new A4 coming in the fall is going to alot bigger then the last generation. Also its suppose to be awesome.

You can get a stripped a4,quattro for a little less then 30k,The options is what drives the price up.

I am pretty sure the next gen wagon will not come with the option to row your own.

And the R32 is to the S3 what the S4 is to the RS4. There is no real comparison with the lardy R32.

If they are smart, which vag wasn't with the newer r32, they will offer a manual transmission in the s3.

They do - just not in the US since the S3 isn't coming here.

so is the quattro 2.0t a3 coming only to canada then? We may or may not be in the market for something to replace the wife's 06 GTI in the next few years. They decontented the GTI a bit and that kind of upsets us (lost things like dual zone climate control, wth?)

I dont like having to get the 3.2 a3 in order to get quattro, having it combined with the 2.0T and dsg would be fantastic.

what improvements are necessary to the DSG? Honestly it is essentially god's gift to transmissions, I can't think of any way that is NECESSARY to make it better, obviously marginal improvements wouldn't be turned away, but there is no real flaw to the system.

+123456789!!!

i swear if I hear another complaint from people about how some car needs to be a little bigger....

if you dont like the size, then buy the next damn model in the lineup! quit taking away the small car market with complaints like that.
