Post Another threat to the turbo 4 bangers.

The WRX, STi, Evo, and even the Z and RX-8 will be challenged by this. I don't care about quality or even design comments because it's market (sub 25 year olds? and daddy's bois [rich kids]) will be sporting this.

Were talking turbocharged 212 HP (223 on premium ) and 300+ HP on the V6 for ~20k. Regardless of styling and quality this thing will sell. It will challenge the above cars in at least strait-line performance.

300HP turbo
RWD
LSD
6speed for ~20k... Good times indeed.

Not to bad, but I'd still rather shoot myself in the dick than drive a Hyundai.

I know that is going to be bought up but it will still appeal to countless young people. It may not be a bad purchase if you plan on keeping it. I mean I’d rather have a WRX but if you aren’t brand loyal and you are looking for the most performance for that price range it’s a no-brainer. Not everyone is about AWD and there are plenty of placed that would enjoy AWD’s benefits during the year.

I was under the impression from several sources that recent Hyundais where in direct competition reliability wise to Japanese manufacturers.

HP ratings are pissing matches for every manufacture.

My wife has owned two Hyundai's, the 2003 Elantra was running strong at 100k (never had a problem with it) when we traded it in for her 2008.

They are excellent cars. If we didn't have a kid on the way, I would buy one of these in a heartbeat.

Responses like these are exactly why it won't be competition for the already established cars in the market.

Personally, while I'll never give up my Subie for one, I'd take one in a heartbeat as long as it proves to be at least half as good as it's been made out to be.

I have no doubt it was already posted but without this view. It was probably a bunch of muscle heads clambering on about how inferior it was.

Yes there where many Tiburon sold, SRT-4s sold, and even a good deal of Cobalts and Redlines sold. Mind you, it wont sell as much as the Impreza because everyone buys the base model. It should sell a good amount when properly compared to the WRX and STi.

in all... it's a nice looking car & I'd rather see a lot of these on the roads rather than SRT-4's & the infamous riced out civic
could never see myself trading my car in for one of those though...

I see the srt-4 owners trading their cars in for this. Cheap power from a crappy company.

not really, most people were pissed that the Genesis coupe isn't as light as Miata or Elise. And nobody seemed to grasp that the thing is heavy because it's based on a full size car.

Hyundai is building cars these days with similar quality to Subaru's, whether you like to hear it or not.
