Default OK, what happened to my posts? (Mod help perhaps)

My post count suddenly and mysteriously dropped by about 1000 or so, sometime last week(zomg! No longer a Guru )
I figured it may have been a server issue or something so I just waited but nothing's changed.
It's not a big deal, but I'm curious why/how it happened and in that case does that mean that threads and the info inside was also erased?
I already pm'd a mod, and they didn't know anything about it.

That's what I was curious about, to me it meant that the threads must have gone with them. So how were threads chosen? Only old ones? Old+Regional Forums? Old+Classifieds?
Hopefully no useful information got erased. We have enough problems with people not searching for questions like "hOw caN I tUrBo my 2.5RS" and it would suck if now they really can't find the answer

Stuff is archived every few months - - site is too huge not to archive

posts are still searchable in the database no worries.

as far as the threads, site boss Nick would know more about that

but my understanding is it's a by "date" kind of thing.

you're not the only one who has brought this up
it has affected quite a few folks and it's not "intentional" or punishment

it just happens

This is all well and good, except that it makes titles such as "Subie Guru" pointless from those who have contributed over the years.

I suggest it is fair to restore Kaos200's title or eliminate all titles, including your own, Subie Gal.

^^^she's a mod.. and there IS a difference between a regular mod and supermod

from what a couple other mods have told me, threads were chosen coz they were sucking bandwidth.. too much crap and it slowed down the servers.. so many superhuge threads were gone as well as the posts

Keeping a database running swiftly requires an occasional archiving/sweeping. It's not necessarily for bandwidth because even though threads get archived, they can still be viewed which will suck up the same amount of bandwidth as prior to archiving. It's just that.... by archiving, you are cleaning up the database, making queries run much faster since they only have to search through x number of rows instead of 3x number of rows.

Sorry for the rant, but I thought I'd share . I assume that threads were pruned according to inactivity (except for stickies of course)?

No problem, just trying to give some background. I work with computers on the side, so I know a bit.
