Thumbs up Dunno what all the fuss is about

I jsut installed my kartboy in a 50 deg. garage in about 20 mins. it took nothing to get the trim off, and the stock one popped out fine. Took a 16oz rubber mallet to the kartboy and well, after 4 whacks it popped in.

First impressions, well, I havn't driven it yet. Bushings will be going on later this week/weekend.

The fuss is that if you DON'T have a rubber mallet, it's VERY hard to get that thing in there. Unless you have a solid, practiced method of doing it. When I bought my first Kartboy, I beat the threads to death trying to get the bastard in place. Which was my own dumb fault, I should've waited to have a second person.

With two or three people, it's not bad. Usually just having one person hold it upright, and another on top to give it a good solid, two-handed shove into place, works just fine. But by yourself, it's a real trip.

When I bought my second one (just because I didn't like having mashed threads), I was smart--I got the biggest rubber mallet I could buy, and in two hits, in it popped.

Heh, my friend Shaun and I tried for almost an hour to whack that thing in with a board and a puny little plastic tipped mallet. After some cut up knuckles we decided to abandon the project for the night (it was about 1am).

The next day I asked my dad for help and he said "oh the rubber mallet is in the shed" one whack and it went in!

That irked me.

But the shifter is great! I need to get some jacks or stands to put the bushings in though.

It's much easier to pop the shifter in if you bolt the linkage to it first. Don't tighten it up, just put the bolt through it with the nut on and the linkage will hold it in place for you. I got it in easy that way.

Later,

Dale
