Default The truth about oil filters: I hope you are not using Fram

I used to work at Advance Auto Parts for 3 years. I am an ASE certified parts specialist, and am now working on a Engineering Bachelor's Degree. When I used to work at advance about 50% of the oil filters we sold were Fram. I have always stayed as far away from these orange monsters as I could. I remember looking at one that had been cut open when I was about 18 and would never buy one again. They are the most cheaply manufactured filter on the market. The materials used are extremely cheap, the filter material is less than 2/3 of the average filter, they use cardboard end caps on their filter elements, and I have had two of them get stuck on cars I bought with them installed. I have always used Purolator Pure One, Moble 1, or Motorcraft filters. They are the best ones that Advance sells.

My friend turned me on to this Article. It is worth the read. At least check out the chart close to the top. I just thought I would post it up so you can make better informed decisions when purchasing your next filter.

It would be interesting to know who makes the OEM Subaru filters.

I skimmed through that really quickly to see if it was there first and must have missed it. Plus there was lots of data from 2008 filters and
I just figured it was a new article. Sorry

Nope. It's been a bookmarked link for me since 2001. Minimopar was almost a bible for the turbo Dodge guys.
