Default Need help passing inspection!

not sure if this is the right forum, but i need your guys help. i currently have an 02 wrx with a catless perrin uppipe, catless helix downpipe, and and hks hipower. my engine light is on and the guy i usually go to to get my car inspected said there's no way he can get around it. do i have to buy a hi-flow cat and weld it on now? i dont have the original stock parts either. thanks in advance.

im not sure where the code is on the inspection paper, but maybe CL003004?

if all he cares about is the code and not the visual just throw the mechanical fix on it and your golden.

assuming that its the code from the rear o2 that is.

yeah im going to pepboys right now to get the spark plug foulers. im hoping its from the rear, i dont care about the visual.

Get the code read at Autozone, it will be in Pxxxx format. Probably a P0420 from the catless downpipe but you want to know for sure, it could be something else or there could be multiple codes.
To pass the OBDII scan inspection in NJ and other states that have it, your check engine light must be off, there must be no stored codes, and the readiness monitors must be set. You can't just pull the battery to clear the codes because that will reset the monitors to "not ready". Once the condition that set the code is fixed and the code is cleared you will have to drive around for a while to set the monitors.

yup forgot to mention that. If that is the code and you kill it with the mechanical fix your still gonna have to drive it a while to get the sensors back to "ready"

ok, thanks guys. yeah i just talked to the guy who inspects my car and he said im going to have to drive it around for like 15 miles to have the computer readjust to everything. if this doesn't work though, will buying a high-flow cat help me pass?
