02 headlight wiring converted to 05 wiring?

i have done an 05 front end conversion, but i am stuck on what i need to do to the 02 headlight wiring to convert so it will work with the 05 headlights.

best bet is to make a relay harness that trips on the stock 9007 plug and then relays through a positive switch system for the highs and lows.

you'll need two relays, H1 plugs, 9005 plugs, 9007 bulb (male) plugs, and a ton of wire and solder.

oh, and a good academic knowledge of how relays and wiring works.

or you could just buy a JDM bugeye plug and play harness for projectors because they use the same bulbs as the 04 lights. if you do that though, or if you don't use relays and don't wire the relays properly, your lowbeams will turn off when you hit the highbeams... not good.

the relay harness is the best idea.

only difference is that subarus use switched ground so your bulb to relay paths might differ.

I had a feelin that I was going to have to use relays and the 05 stock plugs. I have been installing mobile electronics and remote starts for 9 years, among custom work. So I am really good with relays and soldering. I appreciate the diagram. I will figure it out. Right now I have the 02 headlights in it now. looks weird

Please get pictures of the 02 lights in the 04 front. I need to see this, just for kicks. Does the hood close? i wouldn't imagine it would.

I have pics. I was able to get the hood to close, I have been on here for awhile but I still havent figured out how to post picture, without using photobucket. Help and I will post

hosting is the first step, so use photobucket or imageshack(i like imageshack because it's so easy) to upload and host the picture...

then you put the url of the image inbetween IMG tags, which go [ IMG ] without the spaces, and a [ /IMG ] on the other side.

so it looks like this:

haha! that is absolutely crazy. thanks for the pictures!

the upside of a relay harness is that it improves light output by decreasing voltage drop... but you already knew that.

this thread is money. just so you know, i laughed for about 10 mins after seeing those bugeye lights stuffed into the 05 openings.... lol

handsdowns idea sounds pretty legit. use some relays to power those 05 lights.
