I have an '02 wrx and my friend's got an '07 RS. We're trying to replace the DRLs with LEDs. We have the bulbs, but we can't figure out two things:
1) on my WRX ('02), I can't find the module! Is is buried in the assembly to a point where I have to take the whole housing out to replace them? 2) On my buddies '07 RS, we can't seem to get the DRL housing to come out in order to replace the lights. Whats the trick? Pliers/Vicegrips are a no go. Thanks!

1)the module is behind the glove compartment next to the HVAC fan. it's not in the headlight. rewiring it to a new bulb is going to be extremely difficult, i don't know of anyone who's rewired it to another bulb, only disconnected it and ran other lights instead.
upon further reflection on what you mean when you say 'module'... you mean bulb. the DRL for the bugeye is the lowbeam itself, ran at a fraction of the wattage. luckily, you'll have to buy JDM projectors to get a 194 drl. 2) there is no 07 "RS"... the DRL on the 07 2.5i is a 194 bulb inside the housing and you have to get in behind there to replace it, there are a few writeups detailing the process. if it's anything like others, you have to twist like a soda cap, not pull like a wine bottle. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...step8small.jpg under the word "hurt" is the blank, you grap on the oilcover and twist it till it clicks, THEN pull out. not before. Sorry, I was referring to the wrong lights on my bugeye. The ones i'm looking at are the small circle lights on the outer-edge of the headlight assembly. Outside edge from the lowbeam/highbeam, dropped about 5 inches and to the outside of the turn signal indicator. Anyone know how to change those?
Thanks for the '07 'twist' trick! Worked perfectly. |

those are the parking lights. they do the same twist thing but you have to take the whole lights out to get to them.
when i had mine i put amber 5w 194's in them... looked great with the DRL disconnected. |
