Default 03 WRX Engine Oil question

Hi, I'm about to do an oil change for my car and I was thinking about using 10W30 Royal Purple.

I read on the forums that the 5W30 can cause problems if you drive it on the track too much.

I usually don't drive my car too hard but once in a while I like to race my friends or just go fast.

So my question is, should I get the 5W30 for increased performance or 10W30 just to be safe?

I live in Alberta, Canada. It's pretty dry here and it can get around 30Degrees celsius in the summer. Duno if this information is useful but ya. haha.

thanks

Nothing wrong with 10W30 royal purple. 10W30 oil has less polymers compared to 5W30. That means the 10W30 is more shear resistant because of the narrower viscosity spread. Most 5W30's, synthetic oils included, get around 1000 miles of use, they thin out at operating temperature.
Having your oil level checked and full is VERY critical it appears in Subaru 2.0L turbo engines. Being low on oil, cornering your car causing oil to slosh away from the oil pickup is my guess why some of these engines have spun a rod bearing.

Ideally, the 10W30 should be more shear resistant but it's not from the uoa's posted here.
