WRX and STi applications, I am still looking up some more info on them to see if they will fit the GC8.

What benefit do these provide for a WRX, and is it noticeable?

Benefits of aluminum control arms...

1- increases rigidity
2- cuts a couple lbs. per side
3- add caster (better straight line stability, steering weight, turn-in, dynamic camber)
4- less unsprung weight

As far as I have read there are two controversial statements

1- the USMD STi aluminum control arms add caster ( some disagree )
2- the USDM STi aluminum control arms add camber ( some disagree )

here is a little more info if you wish to read:

Then they probably wouldn't work on a wagon without adding a ton of camber due to the wider track. Is that a fair assumption?

contrary to what common sense would indicate...some nasioc people have tried it....it also depends on what you want to do with your wagon...

Sorry to rain on your parade OP but I believe that the items pictured are not 05 STI control arms. To expand more, they are not of the 04-06-STI or the Spec-C STI control arm variant.

The control arms pictured - assuming these are the ones for sale - do not add any negative caster and do not change the suspension geometry over the stamped-steel variants. They do however relinquish some weight and look cooler, but do nothing more.

I've researched and done my fair share on said parts re-building my car's suspension setup to know from sight the difference in geometry and casting marks to differentiate "regular" aluminum control arms from the the Spec-C or geometry-altering variants; I believe yours are not the geometry-altering type.

See here for more information:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...=832436&page=8

*Start at the beginning of the thread for the whole picture if you want but the posts and photos on page 8 should give you a rough idea.

Again, not to crap on your thread but may I infer for the benefit of others here that the arms pictured - and possibly for sale - are from your 06 WRX, which received the "regular" aluminum control arms in lieu of the geometry-altering control arms that the 05 STI received.

However, they are still nice pieces especially in their current condition, but again, I strongly believe that they are not from an 05 STI nor do they alter your caster if installed in a sedan; wagons notwithstanding.

Just my two cents.

Cheers.

Gerald.

Noble response and applauded. I hope you didn't take offense in my post and my guess of them being off your WRX; my guess was inaccurate and I apologize.

Good luck on the sale nevertheless.

Cheers.
