Default Starter Motor Replacement '99 OBS

My starter motor is making that squealing kind of noise indicating that she is about to go out. Can anyone recommend a good starter motor? I know Mitsubishi makes the OEM (dealer wants a small fortune for the part and a very large fortune to replace) but what about these you get at Autozone or Checker Autoparts? It doesn't seem too hard to replace--disconnect battery, undo a few bolts, replace, then reverse the procedure. Thank you in advance.

There are places on-line you can check with and compare prices. The main thing I would be concerned with is the warranty on the unit. Getting a good remanufactured unit should save you some money and have a good unit. You could also have a local shop rebuild yours. I would compare prices before doing that though.

I've never had a squealing noise from a starter but I've only worked on one on my old Legacy.

The contacts were pitted and corroded from being...well...17 years old and original. A lot of the parts can be replaced (my contact set was around 25 bucks). They're not hard to tear apart...the worst part of the job (no kidding) is pulling it off and getting it back on. That lower bolt is a headache.

Whatever route you go, good luck!
