Default integrate adjustable headlights? (like the sti)

I love how you can adjust the height of the headlights in the sti via a switch...

how exactly is this acomplished?

how hard would it be to integrate that into my HID retrofit project ???

anyone do it ??

i looked into this when i was retrofitting fx35s into my bugeye lights.

i asked the lighting gods what they thought, and they told me dont bother.

some projectors come with leveling motors attached to them. in the sti, you turn a switch to make the adjustment. some cars have this as an auto-leveling feature (fx35, some bmws, is300s etc.)

this works by having a small servo motor with a telescoping arm connected to the projector by a ball and socket. when the motor turns, the arm screws out, and moves the top or the bottom the projector forward and back, thus making the beam go up and down

this would be extremely difficult to do. its hard enough to get the retro fitted projectors aligned properly, and i cant even imagine how hard it would be to retro a leveling servo as well.

some projector's leveling systems are built very close to the projector... if the housings weren't so small you might be able to retro the entire assembly, and then you just have to wire the motors.
not impossible... but not easy. doing that route would probably require building a bigger rear cover for the light to seal out moisture and house the projector.

man... it might actualy be easier to just chop the back section of the sti headlights and "attach" them into the back of mine

Has anyone done it ???

I wouldn't bother with it. Chopping and sealing the back of the housing is a major PITA.
