“Jean” was purchased new in 2004. After graduating college, I was in the market for a vehicle that can haul a lot of stuff, be comfortable, have ample power, and was under $30K. So why the station… ahem, the sport wagon? I didn’t want a truck because of their poor gas mileage and the fact that everyone wants to borrow it when they decide to move or pick up something big. I didn’t want a sedan because it wouldn’t fit everything I owned at the time. And finally, not a sports car as that just wasn’t practical. So my choices were a Subaru Legacy, Volvo wagon, Audi Wagon, and, believe it or not, a Honda Odyssey. I didn’t opt for the Volvo due to the price of their wagons exceeding my limit, and to add to that, AWD was an expensive option; same for the Audi, plus the cost of maintenance. I would have walked away with an Odyssey (first year of the new design), but the cost of the minivan was severely marked up as there was a high demand for it during it’s initial introduction (yeah, go on and laugh… the Ody would have been pimped out nicely as well). What was left was the Subaru legacy.

The other large selling point of the Legacy was the fact that the Turbo motor was being re-introduced in the US market, plus the fact that it was a 5-speed, was too hard to miss. 250hp / 250tq was more than enough to scoot around town in and maneuver through the canyons with. This was the car that I was supposed to leave stock… until my brother showed me a few pictures of what they did to it in Japan. The mod bug hit me again (originally coming from a 1985 300zx Turbo, mildly modified… I miss it!) and has materialized into what you see today. “Jean” is a daily driver so seeing it as you do below is a rare sight. Usually a layer of dust collects on the surface waiting for the next rainy day to “quasi”-wash off… or if there’s a car meet I plan on attending.

Since I purchased the car, it has made 2 cross-country trips (San Diego to Maryland, and back) and numerous trips along the western coast (Seattle to San Diego). The car is close to 90,000 miles and still running like a champ. Personally, the car is living up to it’s name as a Touring wagon and is a blast to drive.

As far as styling, the car already has an aggressive look to it. My intent was to add subtle touches of class to the car to add to it's more "mature" feel. Ultimately, the car ended up being "VIP-styled", but I like the end result.

Here’s the modifications list:
Exterior:
Albero front bumper
Apexcone HIDs (thanks AKLGT!)
Syms rear lip spoiler

Interior:
Some Power Bar wrappers, mud, rocks, and leaves, basically STOCK!

Engine:
2.5l Boxer w/ twinscroll setup (
Blitz SUS Intake
Zerosports Downpipe
GReddy EVO2 Catback
Short throw shifter
*Tuned at Harman Motive (300hp/310tq)

Suspension:
Megan Racing Coilovers
Cusco Rear Swaybar
AME Shallen’s sometimes/ beat-up Advan Siena’s most of the time

Wow

This is the first time we've had twenty five cars. Total overload Thanks to everyone who entered, simply a jaw dropping turn out of cars.

lazarus4444, mikeyan, and subaru_terrence need to pad out their details a bit.

The thread is open, the entries are closed and we'll start the voting Thursday morning so the entrants can make any last minute changes or tweaks. Of course you can still edit and change your entry at any time.

The eliminations will be ...

Round One .. the bottom 13 cars will be knocked out

Round Two .. the bottom 9 go to Top Scoob Heaven leaving the top three to fight it out.

Best of luck to everyone !!

The polls for the first round are open. Due to the tremendous turnout we'll go the full 15 days for round one...half of which will be spent trying to choose!

Good Luck to everyone.

it's easy to take a new car and make it look good.
Shouldn't this be about who has put the most time, effort, blood and sweat into their car? If it's not available on the market, they make it. Grease on their hands, hours of research. Not just a bolt on and go?

Yep understand that. Just about everything on this car was made by us and is not produced by any other company.
