Default New Element Tuning Hydra Nemesis 2.6 Release Details

New Element Tuning Hydra Nemesis 2.6 Release:

The long awaited 2.6 Hydras have been released but there is a price increase with these new units of +$200. With that said I know many have been patiently or not so patiently waiting to purchase this new Hydra and Element Tuning will be discounting the first 25 retail sales (that means sold directly by Element Tuning) by $200. This is a discount that Element Tuning is providing and is why it requires a retail sale. You must call to place your order and a payment of 50% is required.

Here are the basics for the Nemesis 2.6:

Fueling Strategies:
Fueling strategy can now be speed density, alpha-n or any imaginable blend of these using two new maps.
Fuel maps can now be defined either in injector pulse width or volumetric efficiency.

Autotune Mapping Strategy:
Using our NTK L2h2 Sensor autotune is now handled through a VE map for faster map setup.

For Injector pulse width tuning each fuel that has be traced will show the percentage off the fuel pulse is to reach the "Target AFR"

True Antilag Capabilities:
Three new maps and setups are added to the Antilag fuel and Timing maps for a total of 5 maps for true Antilag Control including meeting Group N specifications

Closed Loop Variable Cam Control for Intake and Exhaust:
Variable cam maps are now in Full 32 by 32 resolution, same as the fuel and ignition maps. Closed loop Variable cam support available for both input and exhausts cams in Crank degrees.

Idle Control Strategies:
7 Additional maps used for finer Idle Control including Power steering input

Traction Control:
Programmable traction control based on maximum vehicle speed acceleration per gear with fuel and ignition cut maps.

Configurable Boost Control
Boost control with engine speed, throttle position, gear, coolant temperature, air temperature and external input select trim.

Password Protection:
New user configurable Password protection capability allows dealers the capability to lock out various maps and setting either to reduce potential support overhead or protect intellectual property. Users now have capability to reset all passwords and build your own map from scratch.

Launch and Flatshifting Control:
You can now have both Launch control and Flat shift control through switchable inputs. Launch Control and Flatshifting are handled through their own configurable 32x32 resolution fuel and spark maps.

(Still requires additional Element Tuning Accessory Harness)

Support for AIM Sport dashboards and Dashdaq Dashboards:

Full compatibility with the Aimsports MXL line and dashdaq
www.aimsports.com;www.dashdaq.com

Configurable data logging capability:
New datalogging capability with spreadsheet and graphs
Internal or external map sensor:
Onboard Internal MAP sensor now supports up to 45psi (60psi absolute)
New optional 5 bar External Map sensor supports up to 60psi (75psi absolute)
Data log and view real time map

Configurable Auxiliary outputs:
Fourteen configurable outputs with upto 4 different configurable variables using ”and”, “or”, or “nor” choices.
Unused Injector drivers can also be used for auxiliary outputs. Outputs 2 - 8 can be used for staged injection or general purpose switching, and outputs 2 - 5 can be used for PWM control

Auxiliary inputs:

Now ten configurable inputs are available to request various functions. (*Cars with Stepper motor idle control still only has 6 inputs)

Hydra Nemesis 2.6 Software and Hardware Upgrade for Nemesis 2.5 Hydras

The first release of the 2.6 software is for new unit sales and then starting the second week in June we will be offering an upgrade process. The upgrade includes hardware changes along with the software update. The basic hardware changes include USB support, a new USB cable, 45 psi Map sensor, 4 additional inputs/outputs, DBW hardware changes that can range from basic to a whole new circuit board, and external WB input for data logging (no closed loop or autotune supported for external WB). This upgrade is going to range from $200-$350 depending on your serial number which determines how much hardware needs to be upgraded.

Element Tuning will be facilitating the upgrade path by issuing RMA#s along with instructions and billing.

Thank you for your support and patience while we developed the 2.6 platform.

More 2.6 specific information can be found on this Nasioc thread:

Phil,

Will we be able to convert our 2.5 map to 2.6?
Or will we have to retune the car?

Most of your maps will "migrate" over to the new software but I will need to provide the new AVCS maps and there are new features that will need to be tuned by the end user if they choose to use them.

Thanks,
Phil

So the V2.6 Hydra now uses USB for interfacing with a computer instead of old style Serial (USB is serial too, obviously, but better serial).

Very cool. So is the overall bandwidth higher now between laptop and Hydra or is there a USB to Serial converter on-board that runs at the same speed as before?

Thanks,
Russ

There is a "normal" and "high speed" option in preferences now. I haven't tested the high speed as I was using a serial cable for my beta units.

Thanks,

No unfortunately. There have been significant hardware upgrades since the Nemesis 2.0 units and the hardware won't support 2.6.

USB ought to work perfectly with Windows running inside Parallels... and certainly with the MacBook booted natively into Windows.

I know of at least a few that use Macs successfully with the Hydra.

Thanks,

I was talking to the guys that work on my car this morning and Jay said the 2.6 was a really nice upgrade. I may have to step into a 2.6 myself. When you really look into the potential of the hydra it looks like a great value.

Yes definitely it is. I think if you're really into tuning your car or an advanced tuner (trust me those are few and far between) the options now are pretty incredible. Honestly I'm still learning my around all the new features and compensation maps.

Those who just pay me to tune their car well.....it's going to run great either way

Thanks,
Phil

OMG! I hope so but it's going to be time consuming for me. Luckily the 2.6 software has a "help" button on many of the settings and also a "help menu" for each map selected. This is extremely helpful and light years better than the documentation offered before.

Much of the tuning guide information is still correct but the paths to get to the maps are different.

The more I use the 2.6 software the better I feel about the new upgrade and the learning curve required to use it. I've been on beta for a long time but some new items worth noting:

AUX fuel and Spark maps now have there own "Target AFR Table" and "Boost Trim" map.

There has been a slight delay in the release because of cables and the fact that the beta version maps wouldn't transfer over 100%. I made a big stink about this because of all the manual editing needed to get 1100 load cell maps made and the fact that I just didn't want to do it again

In any event 2.6 units should be shipping to Element Tuning today.

Thanks,
Phil

The date is not set but sometime in June. We are tying to give tuners a chance to catch up on the new software. It's vastly different with many, many, new mappable features. I'm still getting up to speed myself but so far it's an incredible step up! There is nothing currently available at this price to compete feature for feature with the Nemesis 2.6!

I will also likely at some point release the 2.6 for download so everyone can learn it before getting there unit upgraded.

Thanks,
Phil

If we send our box in for upgrading, will you load our current maps into the new V2.6 so that when the box comes back our cars will run correctly? (assuming they are not protected).

USB support? God bless you.

Now, let's talk again about mouse input...

I will email a new base map to you since the Hydra will not go directly to Element Tuning. You will need to "migrate" your maps over to the new system but there are many new maps that will not be populated by your 2.5 maps. This is why I will email a new map you'll have those other areas poplulated.

The migration feature only takes a minute but without a new 2.6 base map it will take hours to populate the new areas. Don't ask how I know. LOL!

Thanks,
Phil

The USB support is enough to warrant the upgrade IMO. I'll leave the tuning part to you when I come see you later in the year! Great job rolling this out Phil!
