Have a Nice Day? Oil change ramblings...nothing too important

Change the oil in my car for the first time in like 7 months after my 6 month cruise. Purolator Pure One filters are now yellow in color with a sandy, grippy texture....me likely. This being the ~$6 blingy crazy filtration version mind you.

I usually buy Mobil1 oil at Walmart because it's dirt cheap at $22/5qts. I just happened to look over and they now sell Castrol Syntec 5qt jugs for $19.XX and I about fell over as Castrol Syntec used to much more than that.

I must confess though, I was going to buy a ghetto filter at Walmart, but they didn't have a Subaru sized one....that was me thinking I'd save a trip to Discount Auto.

Default My oil filter rants

The "ghetto" supertech oil filters at walmart are made by champion labs and are high quality. FRAM, sold everywhere minus napa & carquest on the other hand is something to avoid.

All dept stores have cut down on carrying the large number of filter part #'s tthey had 10-15 years ago. Target even sold oil filters at one time. The supertech ST7317 is a bit longer and can be used on subarus. Some may fear the bigger filter heat soak whatever that was spread around some years ago. Provide a link please!

I was at walmart yesterday and they had all the pennzoil and quaker state synthetic five qt jugs for $19.97.
