Smile Grimmspeed EWG Coated Uppipe

Ok I dont have any pictures unfortunately but this item is FANTASTIC. First a little back story.

I had a Helix V3 up pipe with GP Moto 3" catless exhaust and a Tial 38mm EWG. I was running without a dump tube as I can't seem to find a competant welder around here. The fitment of the helix up pipe was decent, although the EWG was hitting my downpipe. This made it sound INSANELY loud when it opened up. While swapping the turbo, 3 of the 5 studs STRIPPED OUT OF THE UP PIPE while torquing things down with a torque wrench to factory specs. I couldn't believe it.

So, fast forward to a month or 2 down the road and I finally bite the bullet and go ahead and buy the grimmspeed pipe. I was very skeptical because of the price (~390 total shipped to my door with the coating and new gaskets). I got the old pipe out, slide the new pipe in. WOW the fitment was PERFECT. I had to wiggle the manifold around a bit to get everything to line up because I didnt take the cross pipe off. At this point I wasn't sure if the EWG was going to fit around the downpipe because it was oriented completely different than the helix pipe. I got everything on there and the downpipe fit perfectly. Nothing rubs, nothing touches anything else. So we take her out for a spin. It sounds AMAZING!!! This is how an EWG is supposed to sound! the suby ROARS down the road now instead of sounding like a demon is coming out of my exhaust, it's just a much louder subaru rumble. Due to some unforseen issues with removing the old pipe, and the valve seat falling out of the EWG without us noticing until AFTER we get everything together and start the car, it took us a good 6 hours to swap pipes. I wasn't sure if it was going to be worth the money, seeing as I already had an EWG up pipe. I was wrong. This pipe is MUCH better quality, the heat coating looks imaculate, and with the flex section everything fit exactly how it should. I am in love with this up pipe. I can not stress enough how awesome it really is. I picked up 8-10 g/s on the MAF without changing my tune at all. This is the exact same temperature and weather as the last pull I did with the old up pipe and no dump tube. I can't explain the gains, but they were there. Plus I picked up 200rpms of spool as well!

All in all, this pipe is EXCELLENT quality, and EXCELLENT fitment.

A+++ for Grimmspeed. All hardware was included.

Thanks again Grimmspeed. Now i have to find some more **** to buy from you guys just because I'm so blown away by this product.

One of the best things i've done to my car yet

I'm looking hard at the gruppe-s UEL headers. My only problem is I dont want to give up any spool I'm already struggling to get all the spool back that i lost from my front mount.

hahah. If i do end up getting the gruppe-s header I'm going to have grimmspeed do the coating on it. I dont want to pay 206 bucks extra for the coating through gruppe-s. Plus i know the grimmspeed stuff turns out awesome.

Grimmspeed how about a quote on coating a set of headers?

Default Sorry about the thread jack

I was looking into getting the regular grimmspeed coated uppipe, when I do my dp and go Stage II. Should I really go with the ewg uppipe for a DD with stock turbo and only minor other mods. My goals are just a nice quick DD, for now.

fyi

my dump tube is rubbing against my axle. i spoke with justin and he stated to try loosen the bolts and moving the pipe but..the pipe doesn't move at all and i'm pretty sure it's a defective unit. i hope i receive a replacement dump tube soon because it already ate up some of my axle.

You could always order just the EWG dump pipe with a EWG block off plate. That way you can have your cake and run a IWG for the time being too.

no we do not. however, if you could spare the downtime and send your turbo the area1320, they could make up a jig for it and then we could offer it.
