Pretty messed up. Shows a documentary about a mother who breastfeed their kids WAY past when they should have stopped. Slightly NSFW. I'm really grossed out that the sucking sound was loud enough so I could both hear the girl choke a little (the cough) AND suckle from the teet at the same time.

Talk about building a good dose of Electra Complex (female version of the Oedipus Complex).

I agree! I think if you're old enough to ask for it, you're way too old! One girl in the documentary was 8 and she was sucking the teet like no tomorrow!

Tit varies by culture.

I would concur, though, that teeth = time to wean, if not before. Kids are pretty much on solids and drinking cow's milk by 12 months, taking breastfeeding longer really is IMHO silly.

I feel sorry for the husbands, breastfeeding makes other areas dry out.

my fiancee is a hostess and waitress at a swanky restaurant in south norwalk and she walked up on a table where the mom was breast feeding a 4 year old boy!

when i was just out of school i work with a chick that was still breast feeding her 3-4 year old... everyone else i worked with thought she was not right in the head and i had to agree

My hippie vegan cousin-in-law breastfed her first two for about 3 years and then the last two (who were twins) for almost 4 years. It made family functions a bit awkward!

There is research now that indicates kids who were extended-breast fed have a lot of benefits:
* less prone to get breast cancer
* less prone to be overweight
* recent Russian study said extended breast fed kids are smarter (http://english.pravda.ru/news/scienc...n_smarter%20-0)

I don't think you should be on it at 10, but I think up to 3-4 is pretty harmless.

when i was teaching pre-k one of my students still breast fed....it was gross, he would ask mom directly for a nipple..

Both my kids stopped at 1. Anything past 2 is creepy. But as was mentioned, there are very proven health benefits to doing it for 9-12 months.

those kids in the video weren't, by any means, skinny. in fact, i'd consider both of the kids in the video overweight.

My wife made me go to these pregnant classes with her, and this creepy lady was teaching about the breast feeding. She said she feeds her kids up until she they are 5 years old. Since she had 6 kids one after another, they would compete for food....

Also, she said that her husband had pink eye, so she dripped her milk into his eye, and cured the pink eye. How about that for health benefits?
