Talking My first 1/4 mile

It was a first fun time and the last time I'm going to take my car. I feel much better at Auto-Xing when I come home at the end of the day with a trophy

I had lots of fun since I was the only Legacy out of all the Subarus We had like 14 Scooby there too

Well here are my runs: #525

So, uh, what the hell did you beat in the second race? Was the guy in the lane next to you racing Flintstone style?

I took my '99 2.5GT to the strip once, just to see what it would do. As I recall my best was a 16.027 @ 84 (? - I know the time is right, not sure about the trap speed) with a 2.1xx 60' time. With such a low-powered car drag racing really isn't all that exciting.

Doh! Yup, legacies are not the hottest strip cars. I can't wait to get larrys' turbo kit! Till then I'm not showing my face at E-town.

I didn't go to the event, but I heard that there were some Vdubs holding their own there.

not to bust on you mark... but most regular strip racers would be a quarter of the way down the track by the time you woke up and reacted 1.4 second reaction times aren't very good at all. Once you get to .5second R/T's you'd get some better times. But then again that takes some practice, instead of it being your 1st time at the strip.

Hint: As the Yellows come on dump the clutch. and you should be reving around 4k before dumping in order to get a better launch from our AWD cars. Also strip your car of ALL unnecessary things. period. every pound helps. spare tires, stereo amps & subs, etc.
goto the bathroom....

Mebe if you get more interested, you might participate in bracket racing. where you race again all kinds of cars, but the idea is to "guess" what your exactly time down the track will take down to the 1/100's of a second. Now that's another type racing class that's quite interesting and very competatitve.

cya!

Now I have only gone to the track a few times with my other car... you know the one that has a busted engine due to the few times ... but unless you ARE bracket racing the R/T has absolutey no basis to the E/T.

What does matter however is the 60' time. Each 0.10 sec less on the 60' is worth about 0.3 sec less off your E/T.

In other words, you can have a 5 sec R/T but your E/T would not change one bit since the clock will not start until your wheels cross the second set of lights.

Just my .02.

1991 Laser RST FWD 14.2@103.67 (No traction and horrible driving... about 2.4 sec 60' time. An AWD DSM would be turning low 13s to high 12s with typical 1.9 sec 60' at same terminal speed).
